Tribute to Dr. R. N. Singh on His Punyatithi

On the solemn occasion of his Punyatithi, we bow with deep respect to the revered memory of Dr. R. N. Singh (Dr. Ramnath Singh)—a distinguished physician, visionary institution-builder, and tireless social worker.

A Multifaceted Life of Service
Dr. Singh was an internationally acclaimed pediatrician whose contributions to medical science were both exemplary and inspiring. In recognition of his outstanding work, he was honored as the Principal of the Millennium. He founded the Region Institute of Maternity and Child Health, the first institution of its kind in India, which continues to stand as a landmark in specialized healthcare for women and children.

Beyond medicine, Dr. Singh’s life was equally dedicated to service and leadership. He created history by becoming the first unanimously elected District Governor of Lions Club International District, a rare honor that reflected the trust and admiration he commanded. His vision also extended to cultural preservation and heritage; he was instrumental in the installation of the statue of Veer Durgadas Rathore and in the development of his memorial at Masuriya Hill, Jodhpur, now a significant site of historical and cultural pride.

Scholarship and Research
Dr. Singh was not only a healer but also a scholar of remarkable depth. His research papers on pediatric health were published in leading national and international journals, and he guided postgraduate theses in Pediatrics with a strong academic commitment.

He also made pioneering contributions to historical literature:
• Authored a well-researched souvenir and book on Veer Durgadas Rathore.
• Wrote Kshatriya Bais Vansh Prakash, a scholarly volume documenting the history and heritage of the Bais lineage.
• Authored a research-based book on Avadh Kesari Rana Beni Madhav Ji, preserving the memory of another great freedom fighter.

Commitment to Society and Heritage
Dr. Singh held significant positions in cultural and civic organizations, serving as a member of the Veer Durgadas Rathore Smriti Samiti, Jodhpur and as the coordinator of the Jodhpur Foundation Day Celebrations Committee. His contributions to public life were as meaningful as his service in medicine.

A Lasting Legacy
Dr. R. N. Singh’s life was a rare blend of medical excellence, scholarly pursuit, cultural preservation, and community leadership. His legacy continues to inspire doctors, social workers, and scholars alike. On his Punyatithi, we pay homage to a life lived with compassion, vision, and dedication to humanity.
