The Department of Commerce of Loknete Vyankatrao Hiray Arts, Science and Commerce College (Autonomous), Panchavati, Nashik, in association with SEBI and the Consumer Guidance Society of India (CGSI), successfully organized a Workshop on "Financial Literacy" on 23 July 2026 from 12:00 Noon to 1:00 p.m. for the Teaching and Non-Teaching Staff of the college. The workshop aimed to enhance financial awareness and promote informed investment decisions among the employees.
The programme commenced with the welcome of the dignitaries. The Resource Person, Mr. Nandkumar K. V. Menon, SEBI SMART Trainer, was felicitated by Principal Dr. B. S. Jagdale in recognition of his valuable contribution to financial education and investor awareness.
Dr. Vinit H. Rakibe, Head, Department of Commerce, welcomed the gathering and explained the objectives of the workshop. He emphasized the importance of financial literacy in achieving financial security and highlighted the need for systematic savings and informed investment decisions. Dr. Rakibe also introduced the resource person and briefed the audience about his extensive experience and expertise in the field of financial education.
The resource person, Mr. Nandkumar K. V. Menon, delivered an insightful and informative session on various aspects of personal finance and investment. He explained the functioning of the share market, the different types of financial markets, and the risks associated with investments in the equity market. He also differentiated between a trader and an investor, explaining their objectives, investment strategies, and risk profiles. The session further covered the concept, features, and advantages of Mutual Funds and Systematic Investment Plans (SIPs), emphasizing the importance of disciplined and long-term investing for wealth creation.
On this occasion, Principal Dr. B. S. Jagdale addressed the participants and emphasized the importance of developing the habit of investing from a young age. He encouraged the teaching and non-teaching staff to adopt sound financial planning practices and to spread financial awareness among students and society.
The workshop was highly interactive, with participants actively engaging in discussions and seeking clarification on various investment-related issues. The session proved to be highly beneficial in improving their understanding of financial planning, investment opportunities, and risk management.
A total of 53 Teaching and Non-Teaching staff members benefited from the workshop. The programme concluded with a vote of thanks, expressing sincere gratitude to the resource person, Principal, organizers, and all participants for making the workshop a grand success.
