The 5th edition of TEDxSIUNashik, held on December 7, 2024, revolved around the theme “W.O.W: Whispers of Wonder” and celebrated transformative ideas and stories across diverse fields. The event began with an opening address by Dr. Vandana Sonwaney, Director of the Symbiosis Institute of Operations Management (SIOM), who introduced the audience to the inspiring day ahead.
The first speaker, Ms. Prakriti Srivastava, highlighted the critical issues surrounding the FCAA 2023. She warned that such policies, if not stringent and well-implemented, could undermine ecological security, exacerbate climate change, and threaten essential natural resources like soil and water.
Mr. Ankit Bhateja, spoke about the intersection of global geopolitical turmoil, climate change, and technology. He emphasized a multidisciplinary approach to address security risks and climate impacts effectively, citing examples of technology-driven innovations that mitigate these challenges.
The third speaker, Dr. Anirban Bandyopadhyay, delved into his pioneering work in artificial intelligence and nanotechnology. Drawing parallels between the vibrational patterns of proteins and human emotions, he showcased the potential of his invention, the dodecanogram, which maps complex biological vibrations.
Ms. Shreeyaa Popat offered a fascinating perspective on the relationship between mathematics and dance. She demonstrated how the principles of arithmetic, geometry set theory, and algebra are embedded in Kathak’s rhythmic patterns and compositions enhancing the beauty and structure of this classical art form.
The final speaker, Dr. Aurodeep Nandi Nandi, addressed India’s economic outlook for 2025. He argued that the Reserve Bank of India must lower interest rates to stimulate growth and avoid a potential economic slowdown, emphasizing the interplay between fiscal policy, monetary policy, and economic resilience.
The day concluded with a heartfelt vote of thanks by Dr. Aasha Sharma, Faculty convener of TEDxSIU Nashik and professor Symbiosis Institute of Operations Management (SIOM), the organizer Rahul Biwalkar and Co-Organizer Aditya Rana, marking the end of an enlightening journey through whispers of wonder, intellect, and inspiration. The speakers left the audience with ideas to ponder and the motivation to explore new horizons.
