*Modals and Their Functions*
Type of Questions usually asked in examinations-

*Type 1.* Rewrite the sentences using the Modals given in brackets.(Replacement)
*Type 2.* Supply the correct Modals.
*Type 3.* Fill in the blanks using correct Modals.
*Type 4.* Fill in the blanks with modals appropriate to the meaning in brackets.

*1. Can -*
a) Permission -(Informal)
👉 is/am/ are + allowed to + verb 1
👉 is/am/are + permitted to + verb1

b) (Ability/power in Present) -
👉 is /am/ are + able to + verb1
👉 has /have + power/authority + to+ verb1

*2. Could-*
a) (Permission -Informal)
👉 was/ were allowed to + verb1
👉 was/were + permitted to + verb1

b) (Ability/power in past)
was/were + able to + verb1

c) Also used to make Extremely polite request.

*3) Might* = Perhaps, possibly, remote possibility in past. Past tense of May
