Principal’s Message…
It is an honor and privilege to be the principal of mmjsv, the school that stand for excellence and continuously sets the highest standards, the school that is an alma mater which all alumni look back to with fond memories the school that has given this country many distinguished personalities and leaders in diverse fields. I am reminded of the words of jean piaget who said, “
the principal goal of education in schools should be creating men and women who are capable of doing new thing not simply repeating what other generation have done-men and women who are creative, inventive who can be critical and verify, and not accept everything they are offered.” School education is a deliberate and more or less external intervention in the life of the child. Although much learning and teaching takes place at home and in the neighborhood community, the influences of schooling also pays a very important role. Ideally, education is suppose to encourage the students to analyze and evaluate the experiences to doubt, to question, to investigate-in other words, to be inquisitive and to think independently. Therefore at MMJSV follow a learning process which is proactive and which promotes a thinking culture. The students are thought not only to restrict themselves to the text but also to avail the access to a variety of innovation so that they can relate it to their real life experiences. The famous aphorism often attributed to a great western philosopher. Heraclitus belonging to the pre-Socratic philosophers is that “Everything is in a state of flux”, holds true for our world which is dynamic by its very nature and is always in state of flux. The contemporary world is subject to a pace of change which is unprecedented in human history and our school too had its share of changes our dedicated staff realizing as agents of social transformation nurture the rising generation by sensitizing them to the plight of the variously challenged constituents of our society the migrant laborers, the poor, women empowerment, prison ministry, eco sensitivity, etc. the time change fast, so do all things. And also, the beauty lies in the change. The importance of instilling good values in our students is our prime objective, as Ralph Waldo Emerson has so aptly said, “what lies behind us and what lies before us are small compared to what lies within us”
The importance of education in the life of an individual cannot be overstated. It shapes individuals in their formative years and imbues them with values that would govern all their choices of life. It is said, ”if you are planning for a decade, plant trees; if you are planning for a lifetime, educate people”. Indeed one can even say that the quality of education will determine the destiny of the nation. Over the years in this school, I have witnessed in our students an unparalleled knowledge base, a vibrant dynamism an acute consciousness about the world around them, a focused ambition and a sustained commitment. For us teaching is a passion and a calling and I am very fortunate to have an experienced and committed team, which has brought the school to its present stature. I along with my team of silent workers and dedicated faculty, intend to build on this strong foundation and raise the standards in all spheres, to the zenith. My aim is not only to be an able administrator but also to be a friend, philosopher and guife to students one whom they can count on and trust at all times. I assure you that my doors will always be open to the students and their parents for any suggestion or guidance. John Fernandes.
