Sikkim Sardar Patel University celebrated Teachers’ Day with great enthusiasm and respect on 5 September 2026, commemorating the birth anniversary of Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan, the renowned philosopher, educationist, and former President of India.
The celebration was organised to honour the invaluable contribution of teachers in shaping the academic, intellectual, and personal development of students. The programme brought together the university leadership, faculty members, staff, and students in an atmosphere of respect, appreciation, and celebration.
The programme commenced with a warm welcome to the dignitaries, faculty members, and students. The celebration featured cultural performances, speeches, felicitation of teachers, and various activities presented by the students as a mark of gratitude towards their teachers.
Speaking on the occasion, the university representatives highlighted that teachers are not merely providers of academic knowledge but also mentors, guides, and role models who inspire students to become responsible citizens and contribute positively to society.
The students expressed their gratitude towards their teachers through heartfelt messages and performances. Their participation reflected the strong bond of respect and affection between teachers and students at Sikkim Sardar Patel University.

Orientation Programme of the Department of Limboo at SSPU
Sikkim Sardar Patel University (SSPU), Sikkim, organised an Orientation Programme for the students of the Department of Limboo, marking the beginning of their academic journey at the University.
The programme introduced the students to the curriculum, academic regulations, examination system, University facilities and various opportunities for academic and personal development. Faculty members interacted with the students and encouraged them to actively participate in academic, cultural and research activities.
Dr. Vipin Mittal, Hon’ble Vice-Chancellor and Co-Founder of Sikkim Sardar Patel University, graced the occasion and interacted with the students. In his address, he emphasised the importance of preserving and promoting the Limboo language, literature and rich cultural heritage through higher education and research. He said that regional languages are not merely a means of communication, but an important part of the identity, history and cultural legacy of society.
Dr. Mittal encouraged the students to pursue their education with discipline, confidence and dedication, and assured them that SSPU would continue to provide an academic environment that supports the study, documentation and advancement of the Limboo language.
The programme concluded with an interactive session between the students, faculty members and University officials.
