St. Joseph’s College, Nainital Clinches the H.N. Pandey Memorial Independence Cup!

St. Joseph’s College (SEM) has kept its grand football tradition alive by winning the historic H.N. Pandey Memorial Independence Cup! Following a dominant 4–1 victory against Birla Vidya Mandir in the semi-finals, the Semites put on a masterclass in the finals on August 15th.

In a spectacular display of skill and teamwork, SEM defeated Sanwal Public School, Nainital with a thumping 6–0 scoreline to lift the historic trophy. What a stellar performance, Semites! Keep flying the school flag high. Go SEM!

Both teams are coached by Ex-Semites Amit Dhaila ( SEM ) and Vinay Sah ( SANWAL )

Mr. Sunjoy Joshi, IAS ( Retd ) the Chairman of the Observer Research Foundation (ORF) and a proud Semite (alumnus of St. Joseph’s College, Nainital), Class of 1974, at the Raisina Dialogue 2026, which co-hosts the Raisina Dialogue with the Ministry of External Affairs, Government of India.

As the host organization’s Chairman, Semite Mr. Joshi plays a central role in welcoming global dignitaries. Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi inaugurated the Dialogue on 5 March 2026. President of the Republic of Finland, H.E. Dr. Alexander Stubb, joined the inaugural session as the Chief Guest, and delivered the keynote address.

The 11th edition of the Raisina Dialogue was held from March 5–7, 2026, under the theme “Saṁskāra – Assertion, Accommodation, Advancement”.

Congratulations, Old Sherwoodian, Lieutenant General (Retd.) Syed Ata Hasnain, a highly decorated Indian Army veteran, has been appointed as the new Governor of Bihar, assuming office on March 6, 2026. An alumnus of Sherwood College, Nainital, he is renowned for his strategic leadership, a former Corps Commander of the 15 Corps (Chinar Corps) in Srinagar, he is well-regarded for his “Hearts Doctrine” and strategic leadership in Jammu and Kashmir.

Distinguished Awards: During his nearly 40-year career, he was awarded the Param Vishisht Seva Medal (PVSM) and Uttam Yudh Seva Medal (UYSM), among others.

Wishing OS Lt. Gen. (Retd.) Syed Ata Hasnain, a highly successful and impactful tenure, on assuming the prestigious constitutional office of Governor of Bihar.
