One of my all-time favourite films to watch with children is Minuscule: Valley of the Lost Ants—a delightful French animated adventure that tells an entire story with almost no dialogue, relying instead on nature's sounds, expressive visuals, and brilliant storytelling. Set in real landscapes with animated insects, the film invites children to slow down and notice the tiny world beneath their feet. An abandoned picnic becomes an epic adventure, gently reminding us how even the things humans leave behind can transform the lives of other living beings.

Watching Class 1 and 2 children of Himalayan Public school completely immersed in this magical world was a joy in itself.

Sometimes, all it takes is a beautiful story, a curious mind, and the quiet wonder of nature to spark imagination.

There is something incredibly hopeful about watching young people take ownership of their community.
The senior students of Nanakmata Public School continue to inspire with their initiative, commitment, and teamwork. Every evening, they gather children from a nearby village for games, songs, movement, laughter, and, once in a while, a thoughtfully chosen film.

Meet our newest little classroom friend—Pingu! 🐧
This week, our Pre-Primary children at Himalayan Public School began watching the timeless stop-motion animated series Pingu, and the giggles said it all!
With almost no spoken language, Pingu communicates through expressive faces, playful sounds, tiny acts of kindness, curious adventures, and, of course, a fair share of mischief. Our little learners quickly found a friend in this lively penguin, relating to his excitement, emotions, mistakes, and heartwarming moments with family and friends.

There are some stories that stay with you long after the credits roll. Up has always been one of those for me. ❤️🎈

I first watched it on a friend's recommendation, and years later, I still find myself returning to it. Animation has a way of saying so much without saying much at all—the expressions, the colours, the music, the pauses.

The opening sequence of Up is still regarded as one of cinema's most powerful examples of visual storytelling, and the film went on to win the Academy Awards for Best Animated Feature and Best Original Score. It was also only the second animated film ever to be nominated for Best Picture.

This week, I shared it with our children in a small school Himalayan Public School Suyalgar tucked away in the hills. Watching them laugh, gasp, and lose themselves in Carl, Russell, Dug, and Kevin's adventure reminded me why I love this film so much.

Every child deserves stories that spark wonder. And sometimes, the greatest adventure begins with simply sitting together, watching, imagining, and believing that dreams can still take flight. 🎈

Bharatanatyam is often seen as strict, pure, and rooted in centuries-old discipline — beautiful, but sometimes overwhelming for young learners.

But children can enter this tradition with joy. ✨

Here, I am finding ways to make the form playful without losing its essence:
• Story-first learning instead of technique-first
• Movement games inspired by adavus
• Short, child-friendly compositions
• Themes children relate to — nature, friendships, little everyday emotions
• A warm, exploration-led classroom instead of perfection-driven drills

When we soften the entry, the magic opens up.
Children don’t just learn Bharatanatyam — they connect, express, and make it their own. 💫🩰
