Govindram Seksaria College of Commerce and Economics, Nagpur was established in 1945 by Shiksha Mandal, Wardha to fulfill the requirement of Commerce education in the region during the pre-independence period. It is the first Commerce College in the city of Nagpur and only the second in Nagpur University: the first being G. Having been set on course by such noted Gandhians and freedom fighters as Shri Jamnalal Bajaj and Shri Krishndas Jajoo, who founded Shiksha Mandal, the college continued to receive patronage by Seth Govindaram Seksaria, Shri Kamlnayanji Bajaj, Shri Ramkrishnaji Bajaj and host of other noble souls who shaped our existence from time to time. College of Commerce and Economics, Nagpur has carved a niche for itself as premier Commerce College in the country and is known for its high academic standards, qualitative growth and ethical practices under the dynamic leadership of Shri Rahul Bajaj, the President of Shiksha Mandal, Wardha, who has always inspired our ceaseless pursuit of excellence. College of Commerce and Economics, Nagpur was essentially conceived as a specialized Commerce College and today it is justifying its genesis through the successful implementation of both under-graduate and post-graduate courses in Commerce and Management streams. We also have a Junior College for Commerce and Vocational Education. In addition, we offer over half a dozen complementary certificate courses as value addition to our regular courses. Efforts by a team of well-qualified teachers and researchers, and the right combination of curricular, co-curricular and extra-curricular activities in a very congenial atmosphere that is augmented by excellent infrastructure, have ensured that our students emerge as not only competent professionals but also good citizens. The overall quality of our student product can be gauged by our illustrious alumni profile. Our students are doing well in all walks of life. We are very happy to share with you that a large number of Chartered Accountants, Company Secretaries, entrepreneurs and professionals in this part of the world are our alumni. Shiksha Mandal celebrated 2014-15 as its centenary year and all the colleges run by it started a slew of new programmes and activities to commemorate the occasion. The year saw the introduction of new educational programmes, organization of national level conferences and seminars, new technology to transact the various syllabi etc. to set the tone for the next century. The centennial ceremony held on 26 November 2014 at Shiksha Mandal’s Wardha headquarters was graced by the Hon’ble President of India, Shri Pranab Mukharjee who, while acknowledging Shiksha Mandal’s significant contribution to the society over a century, expected us to play a definitive role in nation building by taking education to new levels of excellence. Our goals as we enter a new century are: 100% our students should pass, 100% of our students should pass with a first class, 100% of our students should have strong character and 100% of our students should get jobs.
