It is with heavy heart we inform the sad demise of Shri Prabhakarrao Puranik resident of Laxmi Nagar , Nagpur. He was former civil Engineer attached to Border Road Organisation engaged in building roads in border area. He passed away on the evening of 16 th January, 2023. He was awarded peace time gallantly award ' Kirti Chakra " in 1972. This award is equivalent to Maha Vir Chakra award presented for gallantry during war time. He received this award for his yeoman service rendered in building roads in insurgency infected Nagaland state during the period 1969-70 under most hostile conditions and in difficult terrain .He was the only recipient of this high award from Vidarbha . He was Gem of Nagpur city to be emulated by others. He was always on forefront in sharing his experience with youth and motivating them. It's a big loss to city. Humble tribute and homage to this noble soul who departed for heavenly abode today. Last rituals will be done tomorrow.
