VNIT Geotechnical Engineering

We are thrilled to announce that Dr. Anupam Pandey has successfully defended his PhD thesis on August 27th, 2024! His groundbreaking research on "Experimental Evaluation of Lightweight Expanded Polystyrene (EPS) Beads-Based Materials" has significantly contributed to the field of geotechnical engineering.

Dr. Pandey's PhD work was meticulously supervised by Dr. Amit Padade. Throughout his research journey, Dr. Pandey has published three SCIE-indexed papers in prestigious journals including the 'Intetnational Journal of Geomechanics, ASCE' and has presented his findings at multiple international conferences. Recently, he was honored with the Best Paper Award at the International Conference on Transportation System Engineering and Management (CTSEM 2024).

The PhD viva voce was graced by the presence of the esteemed external examiner Dr. Samadhiya from IIT Roorkee. We were also privileged to have Dr. Lataye (Head of the Department), Dr. Katpatal (Dean R&C), and Dr. Ratnesh Kumar (Director's Nominee) with all esteemed faculties of Geotechnical Engineering Department in attendance.

Let's extend our warmest congratulations to Dr. Sarvesh R for his outstanding achievement! Today, on April 5th, 2024, he successfully defended his Ph.D. thesis titled 'Interference Effects of 2D and 3D Footings Resting on Homogeneous Soils'. Under the expert guidance of Dr. Anjan Patel and Dr. Srinivasan V from the Geotechnical Engineering Section at VNIT Nagpur, Dr. Sarvesh has displayed commendable dedication and scholarly excellence.

Not only has he defended his thesis with distinction, but Dr. Sarvesh has also contributed significantly to the field through the publication of two research papers in highly esteemed Science Citation Indexed Journals. This is a testament to his hard work, perseverance, and innovative thinking.

Department of Civil Engineering, Visveswaraya National Institute of Technology, Nagpur is organizing a two-week-long GIAN (Global Initiative of Academic Network) lecture series in association with the Ministry of Education from 4th to 15th July 2022 on ‘Integrated Approach on Geological & Geotechnical Aspects of Earthquake Engineering: Review & Revisit’.

The main objective of this course is to discuss the fundamentals and recent advancements in earthquake engineering.
This course is especially beneficial for-Faculties, Scientists, Research Staff, Executive practicing engineers, Consultants, and Postgraduate students of Geotechnical Engineering, Earthquake Engineering, Applied Geology, and Earth science.

Congratulations Vishal Deoda for completing the Ph.D. viva-voce examination held on 12th May 2022 at VNIT Nagpur.

A 5-day Faculty Development Program has been organized by VNIT is in association with AICTE Training and Learning Academy.

The program will mainly focus on experiential learning in the field of Geotechnical Engineering. Experts from prominent academic institutions of India and the distinguished construction industry will be conducting sessions on distinct aspects of Geotechnical Engineering.

Civil Engineering faculties, Ph.D. Scholars, M.Tech. Students can attend the workshop. Today is the last date of registration and there is no enrollment charge.

An expert talk was delivered in the Geotechnical Engineering Department, VNIT on the topic, 'Scope of Reliability Analysis in Geotechnical Engineering' on 31st January 2020 by Dr. Dilip Kumar Baidya, IIT Kharagpur. This event was organized in coordination with IGS Nagpur chapter.
