Student Council Election 2026–27: Empowering Young Leaders Through Democracy

"Voting is a right, but even more importantly, it is a responsibility."

With this inspiring thought, BGS Model Public School successfully conducted the Student Council Election on 19th June 2026 at the BGS MPS. The election for the posts of Head Boy, Head Girl, Sports Head Boy, and Sports Head Girl provided students of Grades 3 to 10 with a valuable opportunity to experience the democratic process firsthand and understand the significance of responsible voting.

The election was conducted through a digital voting system, ensuring a transparent, fair, and efficient polling process. Students enthusiastically exercised their franchise, casting their votes responsibly to elect leaders who would represent them throughout the academic year.

The Student Council plays a vital role in nurturing leadership, responsibility, teamwork, and service among students. It serves as a bridge between the student community and the school administration by providing a platform for students to express their ideas, represent their peers, and actively contribute to the growth and development of the school.

The election process began with the nomination of candidates, followed by a preliminary round in which each contestant delivered a three-minute speech outlining their vision, goals, and commitment to the school community. A total of seventeen enthusiastic candidates contested for the four prestigious leadership positions.

The election campaign commenced on 18th June 2026, during which candidates confidently presented their manifestos and interacted with fellow students, encouraging them to make informed choices. The campaign reflected healthy competition, mutual respect, and the true spirit of democracy.

The election programme was graced by the presence of the Administrative Officer, Dr. A. T. Shivaramu. The Principal, Sri V. Puttaswamy, along with the coordinators and faculty members, actively participated in the voting process, inspiring students by demonstrating the importance of civic responsibility and democratic participation.

*“The greatest gift we can leave for our children is not wealth, but a world where every tree still whispers hope, every breeze carries life, and every sunrise shines on a greener tomorrow.”*

With the divine blessings of our Poojya Guruji, the Panchajanya Campus stands as a living example of harmony between education and nature. Surrounded by lush greenery, our campus nurtures not only young minds but also instills in every student the values of environmental responsibility, respect for nature, and sustainable living.

On the occasion of *World Environment Day* , a grand celebration was jointly organized by *BGS Model Public School, BGS PU College, and BGS College of Education at Panchajanya Campus* . The event reflected our collective commitment towards building a greener and healthier future for generations to come.

The programme commenced with a sapling plantation drive led by our respected *Dr. A. T. Shivramu Sir, Administrative Officer, accompanied by Smt. Shilpa T. N., Principal, BGS PU College, Mr. Puttaswamy V., Principal, BGS Model Public School* , coordinators, faculty members, and students. The planting of saplings symbolized hope, growth, and our shared responsibility towards Mother Earth.

A vibrant awareness rally was inaugurated thereafter, where students enthusiastically participated. Carrying meaningful placards and raising slogans on environmental conservation, the students spread the message of *“Save Nature to Save Our Future.”* As a thoughtful gesture, saplings were distributed to local residents and shopkeepers around Bellur Cross, encouraging the community to join hands in protecting the environment.

Adding to the significance of the day, students brought saplings from their homes and planted them within the campus, strengthening their personal connection with nature and reinforcing the importance of environmental stewardship.

The younger students from Pre-KG to Grade V celebrated the occasion through various creative activities such as drawing, painting, speeches, songs, and other eco-themed presentations. Their innocent expressions and enthusiastic participation beautifully conveyed the importance of preserving nature. Some students also presented saplings to the institution heads and principals as a symbol of gratitude and commitment towards a greener future.

The celebration concluded on a meaningful note, leaving every participant with valuable learning experiences and a renewed pledge to protect, preserve, and nurture our environment. The day served as a powerful reminder that every small action towards conserving nature contributes to a healthier and more sustainable world.

Together, as one educational family, *BGS Model Public School, BGS PU College, and BGS College of Education* reaffirmed their commitment to creating environmentally conscious citizens who will cherish and safeguard the Earth for generations to come.Closing Thought:

*“When we plant a tree today, we plant hope for tomorrow; when we protect nature, we protect the future of every child.”* 🌱🌍💚
