"সংসার অরণ্য। এই বনে- সত্ত্ব-রজ-তমো:-৩ গুণ ডাকাত থাকে। তমোগুণ জীবের বিনাশ করতে যায়, রজঃগুণ সংসারে বদ্ধ করে। সত্ত্বগুণ জীবের সংসার বন্ধন মোচন করে। কিন্ত সত্বগুণ ও চোর, তত্বজ্ঞান দিতে পারে না, কিন্তু পরম ধামের পথ দেখায়।... যেখানে ব্রহ্মজ্ঞান সেখান থেকে সত্বগুণ অনেক দূর। "

"Worldly life is a wilderness. In this forest lurk three robbers—the *Gunas* known as Sattva, Rajas, and Tamas. Tamas seeks to destroy the living being, while Rajas binds one to the world. Sattva liberates the soul from worldly bo***ge. Yet, Sattva, too, is a thief; it cannot bestow the Knowledge of the Absolute, though it points the way to the Supreme Abode... Knowledge of Brahman lies far beyond the realm of Sattva."
