National Technology Day 2026 was celebrated with the theme “Responsible Innovation for Inclusive Growth” on 18.05.2026. Sri A. Apparao, Managing Director, CEC Flavours and Fragrances Pvt. Ltd. was the Chief Guest who delivered the Technology Day address. Dr Aash*tosh A Inamdar, Scientist G and Head, TTBD briefed about the Technology Day and CFTRI industry engagements 2025-26. Dr Giridhar P, Director presided over the programme. The event witnessed the exchange of license/ agreements; and certificate of appreciation was distributed to S&T team. Staff, research scholars and students took part in the event.

World Book Day was celebrated on 14.05.2026. Mr Amruth Deshmukh, The Booklet Guy of India was the Chief Guest. Prof. Muruga Poopathi Raja, Dept. of Chemistry, Central University of Kerala was the Guest of Honour. Dr Giridhar Parvatam, Director, CSIR-CFTRI presided over the function. Staff, researchers and students were present.

Swachhatha Pakhwada (SAP) 2026 was celebrated in the Institute on 04.05.2026. Swachhatha oath was administered to all the staff, research scholars and students. Shramadaan/ cleaning activity was taken up in the Institute’s Office/ premises. Dr Giridhar P, Director, CSIR-CFTRI and others were present during the celebrations.

Convocation Ceremony | M.Sc. Food Technology (2023–25 Batch)
CSIR-CFTRI, Mysuru, proudly hosted the convocation ceremony for the M.Sc. Food Technology graduates on April 25, 2026. The occasion was graced by Dr. K.B. Lingaraju, President, Mysore Chamber of Commerce and Industry (FKCCI), as the Chief Guest.
In his address, Dr. Lingaraju emphasized the need for an eco-friendly and sustainable food industry that ensures safe, nutritious food while supporting farmers through technological advancements. He also encouraged institutions to promote incubation and entrepreneurship among MSMEs and food startups, and announced a corpus fund to support meritorious students.
Dr. Giridhar Parvatam, Director, CSIR-CFTRI, highlighted the evolving challenges in the food processing sector, including rising concerns around ultra-processed foods, food waste, energy consumption, and packaging. He stressed the importance of adopting innovations such as AI, smart cold chains, and upcycling technologies to build a sustainable and circular food system.
The event was attended by faculty, staff, students, and distinguished guests. A total of 29 students were awarded degrees under the Academy of Scientific and Innovative Research (AcSIR).

Dr. KB LINGARAJU, President of the Mysore Chamber of Commerce and Industry (MCCI), FKCCI, Mysuru will be the Chief Guest. Dr Giridhar Parvatam, Director, CSIR-CFTRI will preside. Dr Revathy Baskaran, Scientist G and Head, HRD; Dr Praveena B, Scientist F and Coordinator, MSc Food Tech; and Dr Bettadaiah BK, Scientist F and Coordinator, AcSIR will be present. Appreciation certificate will be given to toppers. Degree certificates will be presented to all the graduates.
