The World Heart Day 2026 programme was organised by the JSS College of Nursing in association with Department of Cardiology, JSS Medical College and Hospital, JSS AHER, Mysuru, with the aim of creating awareness among the public regarding cardiovascular health, prevention of heart diseases and timely intervention during cardiac emergencies.
The programme was graced by Dr. H. Basavana Gowdappa, Vice-Chancellor, JSS AHER, as the Chief Guest. Dr. C.P. Madhu, Director, JSS Hospital, Mysuru, presided over the programme. Sri. R. Mahesh, Director, Medical Education Division, JSS Mahavidyapeetha, Mysuru, and Dr. D. Narayanappa, Principal, JSS Medical College, Mysuru, were the Guests of Honour.
As part of the observance, students of JSS College of Nursing, Mysuru actively participated in community health-awareness activities. The students presented an educational skit on heart health, highlighting risk factors, preventive measures and the importance of seeking timely medical assistance during cardiac emergencies.
Students also conducted an Emergency CPR demonstration for the public, creating awareness about the importance of immediate CPR and early intervention in saving the life of a person experiencing cardiac arrest.
In addition, free Blood Pressure and Blood Glucose monitoring was provided to the public, along with health counselling on healthy lifestyle practices, prevention of cardiovascular diseases and the importance of regular health check-ups.
The programme served as an effective platform to promote heart-health awareness, emergency preparedness and community participation, reinforcing the message:
“Healthy Hearts. Brighter Futures.”
