JSS College Of Nursing in association with JSS Health Science Institutions, Mysuru, celebrated the 80th Independence Day with patriotic fervour and enthusiasm on Saturday, 15 August 2026 at 8:30 AM at the JSS Health Science Institutions Campus, M.G. Road, Mysuru.

The programme was graced by Sri.Manjunatha D P, NSG Black Cat Commando and NCC 16 Karnataka Battalion Instructor, Mysuru, as the Chief Guest. Sri Mahesh R, Director, Medical Education Division, JSS Mahavidyapeetha, Mysuru, presided over the celebration.

The programme witnessed active participation of The Principal, faculty, staff and students of the JSS Health Science Institutions in a spirit of patriotism and national pride.

The presence and inspiring words of the distinguished guests added significance to the celebration and motivated the students and staff to contribute towards the progress and development of the nation.

10 Crore Addiction Free Pledge Mega Campaign - Virtual Launch Programme by INC

The Addiction-Free Pledge Mega Campaign, an initiative of the Indian Nursing Council, was observed by the NSS Unit of JSS College of Nursing, Mysuru, on 10.08.2026 at 3.00 PM in the 1st BSc Class Room.

The programme aimed to create awareness among students about the harmful effects of addiction and to promote a healthy, responsible and drug-free lifestyle. The programme also included the live streaming of the Virtual Launch Programme organised by the Indian Nursing Council, wherein the address by Dr. T. Dilip Kumar, President, Indian Nursing Council, was witnessed by the students and faculty.

The Keynote Address was delivered by Mr. Sunil Kumar CN, NSS Programme Officer, who highlighted the physical, psychological and social consequences of substance abuse and emphasised the importance of making healthy choices and contributing towards an addiction-free society.

As part of the campaign, faculty members and students actively participated and took the Addiction-Free Pledge, committing themselves to staying away from drugs, alcohol, smoking and other harmful behaviours and to promoting a healthier and drug-free society.

The programme concluded with a renewed commitment from the JSS College of Nursing community to support the vision of a healthy, strong and addiction-free society.

JSS College of Nursing, Mysuru – Department of Child Health Nursing observed World Breastfeeding Week on 07.08.2026 at Rural PHC, Varuna, with the objective of creating awareness among mothers and the community regarding the importance and benefits of breastfeeding.

An exhibition on Breastfeeding Education was organized and inaugurated by Dr. Prasad, Medical Officer, Rural PHC, Varuna, in the presence of Dr. Ambika, HOD, Department of Child Health Nursing, along with faculty members Dr. Rashmi and Mr. Sunil.

As part of the programme, 1st PBBSc Nursing students presented an informative role play highlighting the importance of exclusive breastfeeding, proper breastfeeding practices, and maternal and infant health. The mothers and patients attending the PHC actively participated in the programme and showed keen interest in the educational activities.

The Nasha Mukth Yuva – Viksit Bharat Abhiyan, along with the Virtual address by the Hon’ble Prime Minister of India, Sri Narendra Modi Ji, programme organized by JSS Mahavidyapeetha, JSS College of Nursing, Mysuru – NSS Unit, in association with JSS Ayurveda College and JSS College of Physiotherapy, on 2nd August 2026 at 9:00 AM at the Sri Rajendra Centenary Auditorium, JSS Hospital, Mysuru.
The programme aimed to sensitise and empower the youth towards the prevention of substance abuse and to foster a strong sense of responsibility among students in contributing to a healthy, drug-free and progressive society, in alignment with the vision of Viksit Bharat.

The programme was graced by Sri. Mahesh R, Director, Medical Education Division, JSS Mahavidyapeetha, as the Chief Guest, on his address enlightened the students regarding the importance of active participation of youths in ViksitBharat and NashamukthBharat campaign and Dr. Mahanthappa, Vice Principal, JSS Medical College, as the Guest of Honour. Led the Nasamukth Yuva oath. Prof. Aswathy Devi MK, Principal, JSS College of Nursing, delivered the Keynote Address, emphasizing the significant role of students and young people in combating substance abuse and promoting healthier lifestyles. Mrs. Renuka Devi DN, Principal, JSS School of Nursing, was also present.
The faculty members and students participated enthusiastically in the programme and witnessed the live address of the Hon’ble Prime Minister, which reinforced the collective responsibility of the youth in building a safer, healthier and stronger nation.
A significant highlight of the programme was the administration of the Nasha Mukth Yuva Pledge. All the participating faculty members and students solemnly took the pledge to remain free from substance abuse, discourage its use among peers, and contribute actively towards creating a Nasha Mukth Bharat.
