It was established in 1917 by the Queen Regent of Mysore, Maharani Kemparajammanni Divya Sannidhi mother of His Highness Sri Krishnaraja Wodeyar in the present heritage building located at Jhansi Lakshmi Bai Road, Mysore. Hundreds of students from Maharani College staged a protest on JLB Road against KSRTC City Bus Drivers.
The students demanded that action be taken against KSRTC City Bus Drivers and conductors as they don’t stop the buses in front of the college and the hostels, where there are designated bus stops. They also complained that the drivers and conductors use abusive language on the buses.
