It is that time of the year again! Jijnasa is back, and this time, we are bringing you the 12th edition!

Over the years, Jijnasa has grown into a space where different ideas come together, take shape, and find their way onto the pages. This year, we are opening those pages once again and looking forward to what you have to bring to them.

Have something on your mind that deserves more than a passing thought? In association with the Department of Civil Engineering, The National Institute of Engineering and in sponsorship with GR3S Program, we bring you the “GRSS School on GeoIntelligence for Sustainable Precision Agriculture” - a 3-day immersive programme exploring the convergence of Earth Observation, Remote Sensing, UAVs, GeoAI and Artificial Intelligence for sustainable agriculture.

On 18th September 2026, the NIE IEEE Student Branch (NISB), under the Geoscience and Remote Sensing Society (GRSS), in association with the Department of Civil Engineering, conducted a Workshop on NISAR: NASA-ISRO SAR Mission. The session was led by Dr. P G Diwakar, Distinguished Scientist and Former Scientific Secretary, ISRO.

The session began with an introduction to NISAR and the workshop, followed by the basics of remote sensing, including illumination, broadband connectivity, optical remote sensing, electromagnetic radiation, and different types of resolution. Participants were also introduced to radar, Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR), and the NISAR mission, along with how data is acquired and tracked.

The session also featured videos on Mars and the Mars Orbiter Mission (MOM), along with a demonstration of how satellite data can be used to create a 3D image of the Himalayan region. The workshop concluded with certificates and goodies being provided to the participants, providing them with insights into remote sensing, SAR, and the applications of satellite data.
