Born on 15 December 1932, Shri T.N. Seshan was the 10th Chief Election Commissioner of India (12 December 1990 to 11 December 1996). General Elections to the 10th Lok Sabha in 1991 and 11th Lok Sabha in 1996 were held during his tenure.

He is remembered for various electoral reforms. It was Shri T.N. Seshan's insistence which made Voter’s Identity Card mandatory for all electors resulting in 100% EPIC coverage in most of the states.

Before joining as CEC, he also served as Cabinet Secretary of India.
