SRIM | Session on Research Design & Hypothesis Formulation

Continuing the Student Research in Management (SRIM) Phase 1 coursework, Dr. Vasumathy H., Professor of Finance at SDMIMD, conducted a session on “Research Design & Hypothesis Formulation.”

The session introduced students to the importance of research design in providing structure and direction to a research study. Students explored different research designs, understood the role of variables, and were introduced to the fundamentals of developing testable hypotheses.

The session helped students understand how thoughtful planning can make a research study more systematic, focused, and meaningful.

SDMIMD, Mysuru, is pleased to announce its 14th International Conference on “Finance 5.0: Reimagining Financial Systems in an Era of AI, Sustainability and Global Uncertainty.”

The major focus of the conference will be on emerging trends in corporate finance and financial markets with particular emphasis on how technology, sustainability, and global uncertainties are reshaping the financial ecosystem.

Research papers are invited from researchers, academicians, scholars, industry professionals, field experts, and students to share their research insights, perspectives, and innovative ideas.

From Classroom to Confidence: Learning Beyond the Classroom
What happens when learning moves beyond the classroom? Transformation.

The Outbound Training Program (OBT) for students of Workplace Learning and Development (WLD) was conducted at LEAD College, Palakkad, creating an immersive space where students could experience, reflect, collaborate, and grow.

Through trekking, adventure activities, mental challenges, and strategic team tasks, students stepped outside their comfort zones and discovered the power of resilience, confidence, critical thinking, decision-making, adaptability, leadership, trust, and teamwork.

The individual challenges encouraged students to confront fears and build inner strength, while team-based experiences highlighted the importance of communication, mutual support, role clarity, and collective problem-solving.

More than an outdoor experience, the OBT became a real-world laboratory for workplace learning—helping students understand themselves, navigate uncertainty, make decisions under pressure, and work effectively with others.

The OBT is an integral component of the Workplace Learning and Development (WLD) course offered by Dr. L. Gandhi, Associate Professor – OB & HRM, SDMIMD.

A Notable Milestone from a Fellow Alumnus

Heartiest congratulations to Anand V (PGDM 2008–10) on being part of three Guinness World Records — an online singing relay, an Instagram record, and most recently, simultaneous online chanting.

With nearly two decades of experience in the IT industry, Anand’s journey reflects passion, perseverance and a spirit of participation.

The entire SDMIMD family is proud of this wonderful achievement.

SRIM | Session 1: Beginning the Research Journey

Every meaningful research journey begins with understanding what research is, why it matters, and how it can help us ask better questions.

The Student Research in Management (SRIM) Phase 1 coursework began with an insightful session on “Introduction to Research,” conducted by Dr. K. Riyaz Ahmed, Associate Professor of Finance, SDMIMD.

The session introduced students to the meaning, scope, objectives, relevance, and different types of research, providing them with a strong foundation for the sessions and research journey ahead.

The journey has begun, and there is much more to explore.

A moment where new aspirations connect with a timeless legacy.

Every great journey begins with understanding the values that shape it. Before aspiring to reach greater heights, it is essential to appreciate the roots from which excellence grows.

As part of this enriching experience, the newly inducted PGDM 2026–28 batch of SDM Institute for Management Development (SDMIMD), Mysuru, visited the sacred town of Shri Dharmasthala—the spiritual and philosophical foundation of the SDM Educational Trust.

During the visit, Dr. D. Veerendra Heggade, Chairman of the SDM Educational Trust, interacted with the students. His address underscored the values of integrity, service, humility, and ethical leadership that define the SDM legacy.

The students also toured various key institutions and service centres in Dharmasthala, gaining first-hand insight into the Trust's extensive social initiatives and the seamless functioning of its diverse activities. Heads of different departments explained the vision, operations, and impact of their respective initiatives, offering students a comprehensive understanding of the Trust's service-oriented ecosystem.

The visit gave students a profound appreciation of the philosophy of selfless service and philanthropy that has been the hallmark of Shri Dharmasthala for decades. It also deepened their understanding of the timeless principle of 'Chathurvidha Daan'—the fourfold tradition of charity encompassing food, knowledge, medicine, and protection—which continues to guide the humanitarian mission of Shri Kshethra Dharmasthala.

More than just an educational visit, it was an inspiring journey into the values, vision, and legacy that form the very foundation of the SDM family.

As part of the Campus Visit Programme, students from St. Joseph’s College for Women, Mysuru visited SDMIMD Mysuru for an immersive learning experience.

During the visit, the students were introduced to SDMIMD’s vibrant academic ecosystem, state-of-the-art infrastructure, world-class facilities, and the unique campus culture that fosters holistic learning and professional growth.

To make the visit more insightful, SDMIMD organized a series of interactive sessions focused on higher education and career development. Introductory remarks were delivered by Dr. Venkatraja B., Associate Professor in Economics. A Career Guidance session provided students with valuable insights into the academic pathways and opportunities available after graduation, while a Career Options session highlighted emerging industry trends and diverse employment prospects.

The sessions were led by Mr. Gururaj Kasnis, Admissions Manager, and Mr. Lohith Patil, Placement Officer, who shared practical guidance and addressed students' queries, helping them make informed decisions about their future academic and professional journeys. Mr. Gautham, Admissions Officer accompanied and guided students during the campus visit.
