China changes names. India responds with its map. But what does it really mean? 🗺️🇮🇳
China has repeatedly used alternative names for places in Arunachal Pradesh as part of its broader territorial claims. In response, India has officially recorded 27 locations and geographical features in Arunachal Pradesh with their standard Indian names on its official mapping framework.
These 27 locations include villages, mountain passes, a lake and war memorials—showing that the issue goes beyond just changing names.
One particularly important location is Laju, an area over which India maintains its territorial claim.
And this is where geography becomes more than just lines on a map.
