People of Woodstock: Sanjay Bhagirath
Sanjay has been associated with Woodstock for a long time, ever since he was just 15, back in 1997, and started accompanying his father to school. He officially began his career in 2008 by working for the Hospitality department, and its office remains the most special part of the school for him because it's where he first began working.
Sanjay currently works as an Estate Helper and can be seen constantly moving from one department to another, helping to ensure that everything works seamlessly across the campus. It's the kind of work that tends to be invisible or unnoticed when done well, but Sanjay takes pride in what he does.
Sanjay's parents had instilled in him the value of a strong work ethic: "From a young age, my parents told me to keep trying to do any work until I get it fully right. If you fail once or twice or even more, that's okay. The important thing is to keep trying until you do it well."
Life has not been easy for Sanjay; after his father passed away in 2013, he had to begin shouldering responsibilities pertaining to the entire household, including getting his sister married, managing his mother's medical expenses and more. Despite these challenges, Sanjay has managed to stay grounded and hopeful. He says that his mother remains his greatest source of support and encouragement, and his dream for the future is to one day be able to gift her a house for all that she has done for him. It's a fitting dream for the kind of person he is - someone who has long gotten used to thinking about another's well-being and happiness.
"I am glad that I work at Woodstock. I feel there is always something new for me to learn here, and I have been able to learn a lot by working with different departments here," says Sanjay.
And we at Woodstock are glad you are with us! 😊
