Education in India is an essential part of the development of our nation. Here are some steps which I highlight in the interview about how we can reform the same.
1. Accessibility: A key issue facing education in India is the lack of accessibility. Many children living in rural areas or those belonging to disadvantaged communities do not have access to basic education facilities. This is why it is important to ensure that educational institutions are established in all parts of the country, so that every child has an opportunity to get a proper education.
2. Quality: Another major issue is the quality of education in India. Due to low budgets, teachers are not paid adequately and often lack the necessary qualifications to teach effectively. This can lead to students not receiving the education they deserve. To ensure that quality education is provided, more resources must be invested in training and recruiting qualified teachers.
3. Infrastructure: The infrastructure of many schools in India is inadequate and outdated. Schools need to be properly equipped with all the necessary resources, such as desks, chairs, books and other materials for teaching.
4. Soft Upgrade: The current curriculum should be updated with a greater emphasis on critical thinking and problem-solving skills. It should also focus on topics that are relevant to the current times such as technology, globalisation, sustainability, and climate change.
5. Introduce Skill-Based Training: A major focus should be placed on skill-based training and vocational education to equip students with the skills they need to succeed in the modern world.
