On March 11, 2026, a bench comprising Justice J.B. Pardiwala and Justice K.V. Viswanathan delivered a historic decision in the case of Harish Rana v. Union of India.

After more than 13 years in a persistent vegetative state, the Court permitted the withdrawal of life-sustaining treatment, marking India’s first order of its kind.
