Suvendu Adhikari has officially become the new Chief Minister of West Bengal after the Bharatiya Janata Party ended the All India Trinamool Congress government’s 15 year rule in the state. Adhikari took oath in Kolkata in the presence of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, senior BJP leaders, and NDA chief ministers, marking the BJP’s first ever government in Bengal. 

The BJP secured a massive mandate in the 2026 West Bengal Assembly elections, winning 207 seats and delivering one of the biggest political shifts in the state’s recent history. Adhikari, who earlier defeated Mamata Banerjee in Nandigram and later in Bhabanipur, emerged as the central face of the BJP’s Bengal campaign and was unanimously elected leader of the BJP legislative party. 

His swearing in is being viewed as a historic political transition, ending over a decade of Trinamool Congress dominance and beginning what BJP leaders are calling the “Sonar Bangla” era. The ceremony at Brigade Parade Ground drew massive crowds, with celebrations erupting across several districts of the state. 

The Trump administration has officially released the first batch of declassified UFO related files, marking one of the biggest public disclosures of unexplained aerial phenomena in recent years. The documents, released by the Pentagon and other US agencies, include military reports, cockpit footage, photographs, FBI files, NASA transcripts, and eyewitness accounts tied to what the government now refers to as Unidentified Anomalous Phenomena.

The first release reportedly includes more than 160 files spanning several decades, featuring unexplained sightings observed by military pilots, astronauts, drone operators, and civilians. Some records involve strange objects seen during Apollo missions, while others document mysterious aerial movements that officials say remain unresolved due to lack of conclusive explanations.

President Donald Trump said the goal of the release is to provide “maximum transparency” and allow the public to draw its own conclusions. The files have quickly gone viral online, reigniting debates around extraterrestrial life, government secrecy, and unexplained military encounters. However, US officials have clarified that the released documents do not provide confirmed evidence of alien life or extraterrestrial technology.
