L'Arc de Triomphe, the second largest triumphal arch in the world, is a very significant symbol of French identity. Its construction began on August 15, 1806 on Napoleon's birthday to celebrate the military achievements of the French troops. It took nearly 30 years for the construction of this magnificent monument. However, Napoleon wasn’t alive to see the finished product which forever remains as a feeling of regret in the hearts of French.
It sits at the centre of a circular plaza at Champs-Élysées from which twelve roads radiate, almost in the form of a star (étoile). This is precisely why it is also called Arc de Triomphe de l’Étoile.

A monumental marvel, the Eiffel Tower never ceases to impress. La Tour Eiffel can be seen at Paris which was constructed to show off France’s modern mechanical advancement.
The French “being French” hated the tower at first. They protested against the tower, calling it a ‘gigantic black smokestack,’ which is ironic because France's most significant landmark now is the tower itself lol.
Hey, and believe us when we tell you that the tower has a LOT of fan-following! A woman from America actually married the Eiffel Tower in 2007.
