One more programme geared towards creating an inclusive society for persons with disabilities!
07/12/2025
The Department of Special Education, SNDT Women’s University successfully organized a One-Day CRE Programme on “The Care Circle: Safety, Behaviour, and Support for Special Needs” on December 5, 2025.
The programme received an overwhelming and heartening response!
A total of 50 CRE participants, 38 B.Ed. Special Education trainees, and parents of children from Arushi attended the event and returned with deeper insights, renewed confidence, and enriched perspectives.
Across six thoughtfully curated sessions, our esteemed resource persons addressed six key dimensions of care—each contributing to building a strong, compassionate, and holistic Circle of Care for individuals with special needs. The discussions highlighted practical strategies, multidisciplinary approaches, and collaborative efforts that ensure safety, promote positive behaviour, and strengthen support systems.
The CRE not only facilitated knowledge sharing but also fostered meaningful conversations, peer learning, and a shared commitment toward creating safer and more supportive environments for every learner.

Today, December 3, we celebrate as the International Day of Persons with Disabilities (IDPwD). The UN theme to commemorate the IDPwD this year is 'Fostering disability inclusive societies for advancing social progress'.
At the Department of Special Education, SNDT Women's University we are committed to building an inclusive society by providing equitable learning opportunities to learners with disabilities. In addition, we consider ourselves to be advocates for disability inclusion.
The students of the department, the special educators from Arushi Dse Sndtwu and the students of Arushi organized a walk in the university campus to spread awareness. Placards in hands, chanting slogans, giving out stickers to university students, faculty and by-standers alike, the students of Arushi appealed to one and all to 'Include' and 'Not Integrate' Persons with Disabilities for an inclusive society that will advance social progress.
