Co-Teaching Activity: Kite Flying Festival
A Co-Teaching Activity integrating English, Hindi, and Geography was successfully conducted through the Kite Flying Festival (Uttarayan) on Wednesday 14 January 2026 in Guru Harkrishan High School and Junior College of Commerce with the students of Std- VIII. The activity aimed to promote experiential learning while highlighting India’s rich cultural heritage. Uttarayan marks the sun’s northward journey and symbolizes positivity, progress, and new beginnings.
Teachers collaboratively explained the festival’s importance, its geographical significance related to seasons, and its cultural references in English and Hindi. Students enthusiastically participated by making eco-friendly kites using biscuit wrappers, newspapers, and paper bags, encouraging creativity and sustainability.
The celebration reflected the joy of togetherness as students learned about how Uttarayan is celebrated across India, especially in Gujarat and Maharashtra. Special delicacies like tilgul, chikki, and undhiyu were discussed, emphasizing the tradition of sharing sweetness and harmony.
The activity enhanced language skills, environmental awareness, and cultural understanding, making learning joyful, meaningful, and memorable for students.

A Fun-Filled Picnic Day at Mandavi Resort
A day picnic was organised by the Pre-Primary section on 20th December 2025 of Guru Harkrishan High School & Junior College of Commerce.The venue for the picnic was Mandavi Resort, Vasai.
The day began at 8:00 a.m. with a prayer and cheerful excitement for the fun that lay ahead. The little ones were thrilled to see the water park and joyfully jumped into the pool. The rain dance turned into a lively moment as children happily showcased their talents.
An appetizing lunch was served, after which the children had the most enjoyable time in the play area with swings, slides, see-saws, a merry-go-round, and a toy train. Even the teachers joined in, sharing laughter and joy with the children.
A magic show added extra excitement, as the magician amazed everyone with colorful tricks, disappearing objects, and flying balloons. The picnic also helped strengthen the bond between teachers and students. The day concluded with a group photograph and a heartfelt prayer, thanking God for a safe and memorable trip.

Lasani March: A Tribute of Faith and Courage
On 21st December 2025, students of Guru Harkrishan High School and Junior College of Commerce participated with deep devotion and discipline in the ‘Lasani March’ organized by Khar Gurdwara Sahib in remembrance of the ‘Supreme Sacrifice of the Chaar Sahibzaade’.
Dressed in school uniforms, the students gathered at Khar Gymkhana ground along with other Sikh institutions. Where the programme began with a spirited Gatka display, soulful Shabads and collective prayers. The atmosphere was filled with reverence, pride and enthusiasm as students gathered alongside the Sadh Sangat.
At 9:00 a.m., the ‘Lasani March’ commenced from Khar Gymkhana and proceeded towards Khar Gurdwara Sahib, with students marching in an orderly manner with the rhythm of bands, Shabads and the recitation of Gurbani. Their disciplined participation reflected strong school values and respect for Sikh history. The March was a very serene and motivating one for the young students.
Upon arrival at the Gurdwara Sahib, students witnessed Gatka and band presentations, received participation certificates and gifts and attended the Kirtan Darbar, followed by ‘Guru Ka Langar’.
The march was not only a historical tribute but also a memorable gift of learning, faith and collective pride for all participants.
