There’s something lovely about watching grandparents step into their grandchildren’s world for a day. At BIS, they were welcomed into the Upper Prep classrooms, joined in the learning, and sat down to lunch together. The children had so much to show them — and the grandparents were ready for all of it. 💛

At *Naach Ke Dikhao*, our Upper Preppies took charge and taught their grandparents the moves. Origami brought everyone around the tables, helping each other through the tricky folds. Then came *Funtakshri* — familiar songs, a little friendly competition, and plenty of voices joining in.

Thank you to every grandparent who came along and gave the children such a happy day to remember.

The Process & The Performance

Before the spotlight hit the stage, Founders’ Day had already done what it does best: brought the whole senior school together.

Every student had a part to play in this cherished BIS tradition. And behind it is a community juggling timetables, nurturing courage and cheering each other on, determined to make it happen, whatever the odds.

This time, that meant staging Around the World in 80 Days with just 20 days of practice. Jules Verne clearly hadn’t factored in the BIS timetable!

We travelled through time and across continents, from Gilbert to Sophia’s and from Calcutta to Shanghai. The sets and props wowed us, from elephants to dragons.

Our Foggs led the adventure, while our Passepartouts had us in splits. And the music carried us from Alicia Keys’ New York to Mumbai Meri Jaan, with plenty of feet tapping along the way.

But the performance is only part of what we celebrate. It is the process we take pride in: the courage to try something unfamiliar, the resilience to keep learning, and the willingness to put yourself out there. Yes, hesitant dancers and shy actors, we saw you! We saw, too, the hours of artistic work and the technical skill behind every lighting and sound cue.

On stage, backstage and through every rehearsal, this was a play that truly belonged to everyone.

What happens when we step into someone else’s culture?

We begin to notice what is different - traditions, food, ways of celebrating,

And then, perhaps more importantly, we begin to notice what connects us.

Our Upper Prep explored Marwari, Konkani and Gujarati cultures not from a textbook, but by stepping into the homes & lives of their friends. They tasted moong dal pakodi, sattu laddu, suhali & sabudana, discovered festivals like Durga pooja & Holi and family traditions like making Pookalam rangoli. Through Kuchipudi and Ghoomar, they explored how dance can carry stories, history and identity.

In school, they came dressed in their cultural attire, presented their own cultural festivals in Hindi, and even greeted one another in different languages.

Different foods. Different dances. Different languages.

And yet, so many shared stories, celebrations, values and ways of belonging. Because when children become curious about each other’s worlds, they begin to see their own world a little differently too.

A breathtaking celebration of culture, community, and the beauty of the Gujarati language!

Our students completely stole the stage for Gujarati Divas, delivering a performance that was all heart, talent, and tradition. A language truly comes alive when it’s spoken, sung, and celebrated by the next generation.

From vivid storytelling to unforgettable stage moments. We are so proud of our little ones for all that they brought to this celebration!

Independence Begins With Me!

Our Lower Prep children celebrated Independence Day with patriotism, pride and a little inquiry into what independence means in their own lives.

From buttoning and zipping to tying shoes, packing bags and doing things on their own, our parent-led hands-on stations turned everyday skills into meaningful moments of learning to be independent.

They discovered that independence is also about trying, learning, asking for help when needed and proudly saying, “I can do it!”

A joyful celebration of patriotism, confidence, community and growing independence!
