It could be the end of the road for up to 800 engineering colleges in India. The All India Council for Technical Education is unhappy with the quality of students graduating from these colleges. A report by Aspiring Minds shows less than 15% engineers are employable by IT services firms while just 2.5% are fit for product company roles. Maruti Suzuki chairman RC Bhargava had also said 80% of engineering graduates were unemployable. Recently, 300 private engineering colleges were asked to shut down due to their inability to fill 30% seats for five straight years.

The global ranking of the top 100 best cities gir students has been released.  In the rankings, Montreal has emerged as the best city for students closely followed by Paris and London as second and third best cities for students.

These are the cities which are favored by students because of the affordability, desirability and most importantly the scope of employment and employer activity.

The list of top ten best cities for students is as follows:

Vancouver, Canada

In the top 100 list, two Indian cities have made their presence too albeit at the lower end of the rankings. Mumbai has been ranked at 85th place and New Delhi at 86th place.

Both the cities are home to two famous central universities in the country, University of Mumbai and University of Delhi.

The inclusion of the two metro cities in the top 100 is satisfactory but the low rank on the spectrum also is a tell-tale sign that India not only needs to improve the education system but also need to improve the support and facilities available for students.
