From The Inner Charioteer to Indic Leadership: Leading from Within

IIM Mumbai is delighted to welcome Dr. R. Balasubramaniam, Member, NITI Aayog, distinguished leadership thinker, author and development practitioner, for a special session on “Indic Leadership.”

Author of the recently published The Inner Charioteer: Lessons from the Bhagavad Gita for Purposeful and Effective Leadership, Dr. Balasubramaniam will:

Strengthening Global Academic Engagement | SMU at IIM Mumbai

IIM Mumbai was pleased to host a delegation from Singapore Management University (SMU) on 23 September 2026 for an enriching interaction focused on exploring opportunities for academic and institutional collaboration.

The delegation comprising Prof. Sun Sun LIM, Mr. HAU Koh Foo, Mr. Tau Wee LIM, and Ms. Lynda TAY engaged with IIM Mumbai faculty on potential areas of collaboration, including student and faculty engagement, joint academic initiatives, innovation and entrepreneurship, and other areas of mutual interest.

IIM Mumbai extremely happy to share the inauguration of the third batch of One-Year PGPEx in Logistics & Operations Excellence through Digitization for working executives of Coal India Limited.

The program brings together the academic rigor of IIM Mumbai and the rich operational experience of Coal India executives. It is designed to develop practical leadership capabilities in logistics optimization, digital transformation, analytics, supply chain resilience and operational excellence.

The occasion held on 21st September 2026, was graced by Shri Amrit Lal Meena, former Chief Secretary, Government of Bihar, and Secretary, Ministry of Coal, Government of India, as the Chief Guest. In his address, he highlighted the critical role of technology-enabled logistics, data-driven decision-making, operational discipline and capability building in strengthening India’s coal sector and supporting the nation’s energy security.

We express our deepest gratitude to Director, IIM Mumbai, Prof. Manoj K Tiwari, for sharing deep insights and setting the goal of this program by taking a thought-provoking session on Coal Logistics and inspiring the participants. We express our sincere gratitude to Prof. Padmanav Acharya, Program Chair who welcomed the participants during his inaugural address and highlighted the continuous support of CIL in IIM Mumbai’s endeavour in capacity building in mineral and mining sector, to Prof. Sumi Jha, Dean (Alumni Affairs) for addressing the participants while also sharing her fond memories of the previous batch students and to Prof. Maheswar Singha Mahapatra, Program Co-Chair gave an overview of the Institute activities and shared the curriculum details with the participants. The program reflects a shared commitment towards creating future-ready leaders who can drive efficiency, transparency and sustainable value creation across the coal value chain.

We sincerely thank Coal India Limited for trusting IIM Mumbai in this capability building program and taking our collaboration to a new height. Indian Institute of Management Mumbai is delighted to share that Dr. Ganesh Natarajan, our distinguished alumnus, has been elected as a Fellow of the Indian National Academy of Engineering (INAE).

The Fellowship has been conferred in recognition of his distinguished and exceptional contributions to the profession of Engineering and Technology. His Fellowship will be effective from 1 November 2026.

Dr. Natarajan will be formally inducted as an INAE Fellow during the INAE Annual Convention 2026, scheduled from 3–5 December 2026 at Satish Dhawan Space Centre (SDSC), Sriharikota, hosted by ISRO.

Prof. Manoj Tiwari, Director, IIM Mumbai extends its heartiest congratulations to Dr. Ganesh Natarajan on this prestigious recognition. We are proud to celebrate his continued contributions and the impact of his work across the engineering, technology and business ecosystem.

"Successful Completion of Unit-Based Programme on “ESG Leadership Development Program for Impact Leaders” (Batch – 1 & Batch – 2) for Life Insurance Corporation of India"

The Indian Institute of Management Mumbai (IIM Mumbai) successfully conducted two batches of the Unit-Based Programme (UBP) titled “ESG Leadership Development Program for Impact Leaders” for senior officials of Life Insurance Corporation of India (LICI). Batch – 1 was conducted on 28 August 2026, followed by Batch – 2 on 11 September 2026, at the client premises, with 40 senior officials participating in each batch. The programmes focused on strengthening leadership perspectives and capabilities in Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG).

The programmes covered key themes including Corporate ESG and Leadership, ESG Risk Management, BRSR Reporting, ESG Performance Management, Stakeholder Engagement, Global ESG Frameworks, Regulatory Landscape, and ESG Best Practices, supported by case studies and practical examples.

Prof. Seema Unnikrishnan and Prof. Vidyadhar Gedam served as the Programme Coordinators and also delivered sessions, sharing valuable academic and practical perspectives on ESG leadership and implementation. The programmes were conducted with the guidance and support of Prof. Manoj Tiwari, Director, IIM Mumbai; Prof. V. B. Khanapuri, Dean – Research, Innovation & Outreach, and Prof. Sushmita Narayana, Chairperson – Business Development.

We’ve updated the eligibility requirements for two positions under the Maharashtra Technical Assistance Cell (MahaTAC).

The Senior Associate – Policy and Research Associate positions are now open to a wider pool of candidates.

The Maharashtra Technical Assistance Cell (MahaTAC), set up by IIM Mumbai and CRISP in collaboration with the Government of Maharashtra, is looking for professionals and researchers to work at the intersection of public policy, data and real-world impact.

1. Senior Associates – Policy | 3 positions

The eligibility criteria have been broadened beyond Engineering/Technology backgrounds, for professionals with 2–3 years of relevant experience in public policy, research, evaluation, development, consulting, government, or related fields.

Candidates with a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Public Policy, Economics, Statistics, Development Studies, Social Sciences, Engineering, Data Science, or a related discipline are eligible to apply.

Strong quantitative and analytical skills are essential, including the ability to work with and interpret quantitative data and translate analysis into actionable policy and programme insights. Experience with Excel/Google Sheets, R, Stata, Python, SPSS or similar tools will be an advantage.

2. Research Associates | 2 positions

Candidates with a Master’s degree in a relevant field and expertise in survey sampling, research design, design-based estimation and quantitative research are encouraged to apply.

🔹 Women, candidates from SC/ST/OBC communities, tribal and aspirational districts, candidates with a tribal mother tongue, and persons with disabilities are particularly encouraged to apply.

Working knowledge of Marathi is desirable for all positions.
