Foreign organizations are promoting the need to introduce disposable sanitary napkins / plastic menstrual pads in India by saying that 88% of Indian women are using cloth.
But in their own country, they are promoting reusable cloth pads and menstrual cups, citing environmental reasons.

Pad Man
It was total bravery for the makers of this film to venture into taboo territory and as the story is a true one, you can see how people in rural India do not want to even think about anything to do with menstruation.
Even urban India - how many of us have returned from the shop carrying a packet of sanitary napkins wrapped in a sheet of newspaper, a brown bag or a black plastic bag?
I think the initial bouquet should go to Twinkle Khanna who pursued the original 'Padman' Arunachalam Murugunatham and brought his story to our notice.
The movie maintains a good pace and keeps the viewer engaged. There were enough comments under the breath from the audience when the intolerance to anything to do with 'periods' was shown on the screen. The second half of the movie says a lot about who we are as Indians.
Akshay Kumar was excellent. His acting was seasoned and versatile. He was entertaining yet left an impact with his portrayal of Lakshmikant Chauhan.
I am sure that the scene where he gets onto his cycle after believing he was successful in testing out his pad will have every woman slapping her forehead in resignation!
Akshay Kumar's speech was probably one of the best scenes he has ever done.
To quote - "When you think of India don't think about a billion people but a billion minds..."
Watch the movie with friends and family.

What would happen, for instance, if suddenly, magically, men could menstruate ??? Something like January for men, February for women, March for men and so on...
I think then I would pronounce the word 'Equality' more proudly...and will definitely laugh on d sentence 'Men won't get pain'.. hmmmmm.....Rrrrrrealllllly????
ππππ
Or can I just logically request god to atleast transfer the pain to men, we girls will handle other RED thing...!!!
