Chunchunguppe Shivashankar Santosh has spent more than a decade racing motorbikes across challenging terrains and multiple nations. He is a rider who is under the banner of Hero MotoSports, and has spearheaded a rally of revolution of motorsports in India and has given fresh hope to fellow talented riders that they too can make the step up to the global rally level.
At the age of 17, he watched his first Supercross race in Bangalore and read about the champion, Vijay Kumar, in the next day's newspapers. Since then, he was motivated to become the best off-road racer that the country has ever had.
In a country where aspiring for a full-time career in motorsports is still in a very nascent stage, Santosh has shown the way, becoming the first Indian to participate and complete the Dakar rally. Few men dream of the enigma that is the Dakar, few find the gall to take it up, and fewer still manage to complete it. CS has taken part in the Dakar Rally for 6 straight years and completed it thrice.
His humble demeanour might not state it, but the trophy cabinet at this home speaks volumes about his accomplishments. There is barely a title or an accolade in the Indian motorsport scene that he hasn't won.
CS Santosh with his persistence, courage and determination has moulded himself perfectly in the sport of motocross.

Day 2 of the AEBC began with an air of enthusiasm around the team to clear the Technical Inspection as soon as possible.
The whole bike was examined thoroughly for any damage or issues, which yielded that there were some technical issues in the assembly and electronics, which were quickly resolved. Around 1pm, the Bike was ready for inspection.
A long queue added to the delay but to the team's luck, just when they joined the queue, the organizers opened a new counter and the team was first there
The judge was completely impressed after the standby analysis of the bike and asked the team to get the the rider ready for the track run. The rider was already geared up BUT just when he was about to wear the helmet, the judge stopped him, checked the balaclava and informed the team that a cotton balaclava is compulsory, a polyester one will disqualify us.
The team had to back out for the moment and hence started the struggle to arrange for a cotton balaclava. Other teams were approached but they did not have extras.
The team approached the local college students to help them. And they turned out to be so helpful, that they not only arranged for an auto rickshaw but also one of them accompanied a team member to the city area which was 60kms away from the venue !
After almost 3 hours the team member returned with the balaclava. It was already 6 in the evening and the organizers were almost ready to close for the day. It was the only day to clear the TI. Fortunately, the team arrived just in time and finally cleared the technical inspection with maximum points and 3 days later, went on to win the entire Competition !

It was Day 1 of the Asian E-Bike challenge 2019. The team had reached the venue with the un-assembled bike and was alloted a tent where they settled in and all the departments started working together on the bike to prepare it for the technical inspection.
Halfway through the assembly of the bike, it started to rain and the tent was unable to hold the water.
A lot of chaos ensued within the team, everybody was trying to save whatever they could from the rain. A few members quickly approached the organizers to arrange for a new tent while the teams in the neighbouring tents also helped.
The organizing committee arranged a tent for the team at high priority and as the team settled into the new tent, a member noticed that the bike had a missing chain lock.
The team had no spare and upon asking, they found that no other team had extra chain locks. The situation was tense as the team was very far away from the city to purchase a new one. Some team members were at the old tent to find the missing chain lock, when they saw a small stream of water flowing from the tent to the road which they followed and lo and behold, there was the chain lock !
The assembly was finally completed, but the team was too tired and hence decided to do the test run next morning before the TI.
But they were unaware of what new challenges were waiting for them the next day.
To be continued...
