The Canadian immigration system relies on standardized French language tests like the TEF (Test d'Évaluation de Français) or the TCF (Test Canadien de Français) to assess French language proficiency. These tests provide a score based on your performance in reading, writing, listening, and speaking.
TEF score of 300-358: Corresponds to CLB 7 (Intermediate)
TEF score of 359-390: Corresponds to CLB 8 (Upper Intermediate)
TEF score of above 390: Corresponds to CLB 9 (Advanced)
The cut-off score for the recent Express Entry draw with 3200 invitations was 420 points. This means that candidates needed a minimum score of 420 in the Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) to be invited to apply for permanent residence in Canada.
