In my 25 years of teaching have experienced that every dancer's body shows pressure on different body parts while learning the dance. Some rays their Shoulders,while some drop their elbows/eyebrows, keep the knee inside or sitting less in basic position(mandala sthana-squat position) or tint their neck on sides.which has to be corrected by teachers and students on a right time for their better future in classical dance journey.

'Jeeva' is the most longest and one of my most favorite item of MOHINIATTAM repertoire. It's not easy to TEACH/LEARN as it has a different pace of speed which increases level by level. It's difficult for a dancer to follow/match to the other dancer with body bendings.which is highly demanded for its beauty in Mohiniattam style.

Body Kinetics play a major role in this particular item where at times the dancer give up with the speed if they are not in regular practice.

My 6th year students are trying to correct their body kinetics and match the pace to add beauty in their learning under me by practicing 'Jeeva' in pieces(Jati by jati).

'JEEVA' is the final piece in the Sopana repertoire of Mohiniyattam.It depicts the union of Shiva and Shakti to denote salvation.The rhythm of the music along with the vaythari increase arithmetically and acquire pace at the end.☺🙏

form is the Cosmic dance of Lord Shiva.

Guru Brahma - Guru is Brahma, who is the Lord of Creation, also called as Generator, Guru Vishnu means Guru is Vishnu (Vishnu is the Lord who is called organizer), Guru Devo Maheshwarah means Guru is the Maheshwara (Shiva or the destroyer), Guru Sakshat Parabrahma means Parbrahma viz. the supreme god or almighty.

Since Guru leads to a path of light, Guru is that Para Brahma. Tasmai Shree Guruve Namah means we bow to that Guru the guru referred to earlier.

Thus, as a realized soul, Guru is the embodiment of Para Brahma, the ultimate Godhead.

The meaning of the shloka goes like this “She is like the bud for the art form of Dance. Through the expressions of bhaava, she gives joy. Through this art form you are able to give salvation. To you we pray for success in this endeavor.
