Harish Chandra was a Indian - American mathematician and  physicist borned in Kanpur, India. He is known for his work on semisimple Lie Groups.

Quote Text :

I have often pondered over the roles of knowledge or experience, on the one hand, and imagination or intuition, on the other, in the process of discovery.

" You don't know who he was, half of particles in the universe obey him "

This was how a physical professor once introduced him. He was a great Indian scientist Satyendra Nath Bose, who are attributed for predicting the existence of Bosons theoretically, Which are named after him. Dirac named these particles after him as honor.

He was a self taught theoretical physicist, worked as professor in University of Dacca, before partition and at University of Kolkata after the formation of India. His work got recognition when he sent a paper of Quantum Statistics directly to Einstein. Einstein was greatly impressed by his work and he translated it to German.

Bose was a scientific genius, he was very little philosophical,it was very hard to find any quote of him, but many great personalities spoke about him very positively. Gurudev Rabindranath Tagore wrote Visva Parichay (Collection of Essay), which describes scientific achievements done by India, which include Bose work too.

Ramanujan was an Indian mathematician born at Madras Presidency of British India, current-day Tamil Nadu State of India.

He was born on 22 December 1887 to the Tamil Brahmin Iyenger family. He had no formal education in mathematics, but the maths he did without that was beyond graduate level.

He did not live a long life, but in that short span what he achieved is incredible. In his 5 years with Hardy the research they did made him FRS, the first Indian to get the fellowship.

Today he is an inspiration for millions of Indians, to believe they can achieve the impossible.

C V Raman was an Indian physicist known for his work on the scattering of light. He also received the 1930 Nobel prize for Physics. He was the first Asian to receive that award.

He was born in present-day Chennai to a Hindu Tamil Brahmin family. His father was a science teacher with a decent salary, which greatly helped Raman at an early age.

He is one of the greatest scientists born in modern India, who lead the science foundation for a newly developed nation.

G. H. Hardy was an English mathematician, well known for his work in pure mathematics. He also guided the amateur mathematician Sriniwas Ramanujan. He also very closely work with John Littlewood.

Hardy was born genius, he found a way to mathematics in everything, he observed the hidden patterns in natural things. Every act we make has a mathematical pattern involved.

He was one of the elite mathematicians of his time, who engraved his work on timesheets. He is also greatly celebrated in India due to recognition given to Ramanujan.

"A mathematician, like a painter or an artist is the maker of patterns. If his patterns are more permanent than yours it is because they are made with his ideas"

Pierre De Fermat was a French mathematician, known for his work in number theory and the early development of infinitesimal calculus. He is well known for the Fermat theorem which was proved by Andrew Wiles in 1994 nearly 4 centuries later.

"And perhaps, posterity will thank me for having shown that the ancients did not know everything." ~ Pierre de Fermat

Erwin Schrödinger was an Austrian-Irish mathematician, physicist, he won the 1933 Nobel Prize in Physics for the formulation of the Schrödinger equation. He is also known for his famous thought experiment Schrödinger's cat.

Erwin was born in Vienna, Austria. His mother was half Austrian. He learnt English and German around the same time. He was given a private tutor till the age of 10. When he entered school though he was good in all subjects, he liked maths and physics. He was easily able to comprehend concepts of physics and mathematics. He enjoyed and started relating to great physics ideas.

Paul Dirac

Paul Adrien Maurice Dirac was a famous English physicist, a mathematician who lived in the 20th century. Known for his great understanding of theoretical physics, he made fundamental contributions to the early development of both quantum mechanics and quantum electrodynamics. For the discovery of a new product form of atomic theory, he shared the 1933 Nobel prize with Schrödinger.

Paul was born on 8 August 1902 in Bristol England. His father was Swiss and his mother was English. He got a BSc Engineering degree from Bristol University. Then he studied mathematics, in Bristol and Cambridge,  received a PhD in 1926.

Paul started his career as a mathematics professor, his this base lead him to put mathematical and theoretical aspects of quantum mechanics.

If you are receptive and humble, mathematics will lead you by the hand.

Paul Erdős or the Oddball's Oddball as called by Time magazine was a Hungarian mathematician. He was known for his Large number of conjectures more than 1500, count of several papers published by him remains unsurpassed to date. He believed mathematics is a social activity and everyone practices in some form.
