DDS 2012

DDS 2012 The Design Degree Show (DDS) is an annual design festival at the Industrial Design Centre of IIT Bombay. The event unfolds through a fine selection of programs.

This year the event held at the Nehru Centre, Mumbai features the works of 57 students from the Class of 2012 across five disciplines. Design Degree Show (DDS) is an annual event where graduating students of the Industrial Design Centre (IDC) at IIT Bombay showcase their work. Aimed at creating design awareness in society and simultaneously offer a platform for people to meet and interact. DDS 2012 will showcase design solutions of graduating students from the streams of Industrial Design, Visual Communication, Interaction Design, Animation & Film Design and Mobility & Vehicle Design. The projects showcased will range from mobility solutions for Mumbai city in the year 2046, Brain Computer Interface experiments for making advertisement concepts in Below the Line (BTL) marketing, films on the never dying spirit of the citizens of Mumbai in the wake of 26th July, game for children with hearing impairment, classroom furniture redesign, and much more.

Abhikalpana (Day 1) saw coming together of speakers from academia and industry. Shri Sam Pitroda enlightened us about Innovations for India in his inaugural lecture. There were talks on Informationalization, designing for the elderly, sustainable development, innovation workshop methodologies and much more. Day 2 is showcasing talks on vision for design innovation schools, finding design solutions for problems at large, innovations in craft sector, incremental housing, strategies and human rsources for a creative innovations.
