Last week I did a for a Global Leading Medical company in Portugal.
♻️ The future of medicine and health care is transforming rapidly and the research I did for this Keynote was the most I've ever done. (rightfully so as it was the biggest Keynote I've ever done in Europe)
Here are the Top 10 things which got me the Keynote and helped me deliver it:
1️⃣ Stay Connected: Anders Sorman-Nilsson around 13 years ago recommended me to speak at an event. Someone in that audience remembered my talk and booked me 13 years later.
2️⃣ Write a Book: when you have a book, it helps with being credible and having depth of content. If you've already written one, then write the next. (I've written 12 Books with 5 being published by the Biggest Business Book Publishing House in the world, and I'm writing my next currently)
3️⃣ Be Memorable: 3 things.
- emotionally move the audience. A lot.
- have a Disruptive Idea
- End your talk really big.
4️⃣ Be Active: when you are active online people find you.
5️⃣ Reply Immediately: GateKeepers for events are super busy and will move on quickly if you are not on it immediately.
6️⃣ Be Curious: in the first briefing call asks loads of questions.
7️⃣ Do The Work: follow up and stay in contact. Show Client your work.
8️⃣ Be Humble: when you sense Client is not super happy, be curious and do a course correction
9️⃣ Enjoy the travel: make the most of the experience and where possible stay extra days and explore. (I did a 1 week river cruise on the Douro river while in Portugal. # 1 inland river cruise in the world. It was breathtaking)
🔟 Turn ON when you are OFF: after you nail the presentation, seek potential opportunities while you are in the room. Stay focused on the future possibilities and network/hussle/follow up.
Speaking is certainly rewarding and validating to your existence in this world. You can make a huge positive change in the life of others. (I've just arrived back in Australia only to be greeted to an email from United Nations confirming my 3rd gig with them in as many years. These ones are big. Super honoured!)
I'd encourage you all to be ready for your next opportunity as when you become good at what you do you will be asked to share it on a big stage. Ensure you nail it.
