Sujaya Foundation's Certificate Distribution for the project 'Abilities Unlimited' was held on 17th March 2023 at ETC, Vashi auditorium. Dr. Mitali Sancheti - Additional Commissioner of NMMC and Dharmesh Shah, LTIMindtree Senior staff were the guests. The Course Completion Certificates were distributed to 85 youth with disabilities.
Later, the students and parents shared their journeys with Sujaya Foundation. It was a pleasure to witness the performance of some of the students with intellectual disabilities. They completed the internship with the company that they were placed with and have started earning Rs. 15,000/-. We at Sujaya Foundation are proud of their achievement.

Abilities Unlimited project (Bandra, Vashi and Byculla) celebrated Independence Day by decorating the rooms and the corridor keeping in mind "Har Ghar Tiranga" theme. We had planned different activities like Rangoli, Drawing and speech by the specially abled students. We concluded with the silent National Anthem. Jai Hind 🙂
Ms. Medhavi Shrivastava, a certified counselor conducted a session on Grooming and Hygiene for the specially abled students of Abilities Unlimited project. A person's personal grooming is determined by how an individual feels about oneself, and how others perceive the respective person. Personal grooming is important for a positive self-image. Every effort should be taken to maintain a pleasing and attractive personality. She explained about oral hygiene, the do’s and don’ts of dressing for men and women. Lastly, an assignment was designated to the students to measure the impact of the session.
Body Safety Program
Rubaroo, is an NGO that aims to break the silence surrounding the issue of ‘Child Sexual Abuse’. They conducted an awareness session for the specially abled on Body Safety Program for Abilities Unlimited project at Vashi and Bandra centers respectively. The session helped students to be aware of the situation and to handle it effectively. Activities and pictorial depictions enhanced the overall participation.
Ms. Pallavi Chaudhary, is a Senior Principal, Delivery Excellence at LTI. She is a certified Yoga Trainer. On the occasion of Yoga Day, she taught asanas and breathing exercises to the specially abled students of Abilities Unlimited project. A series of postures were introduced to develop strength and flexibility. She also explained the physical benefits of each asanas. Everyone was encouraged to work within their own ability and to listen to their bodies.
Certificate Distribution for I Learn - I Earn project 2021-22 was organised on 15th February. Mr. Pratyush Panda, Head- CSR & Sustainability of LTI distributed the certificates to the specially abled students. He motivated the students to never give up and keep working towards one's goal. We had parents and students sharing their experiences and success stories. We concluded the event with a Silent National Anthem.
Medhavi Srivastava, a certified counsellor by profession, conducted a session on ‘Self-Motivation’ for the Skill Enhancement Project for youth. Being self motivated helps in goal realization and drives oneself toward personal development. Self motivation can be achieved with a positive attitude, vision boards, therapeutic music, prioritization of goals using the SMART technique, etc. It enables individuals to have a goal centric approach. Overall a good session with key takeaways.
A session on Leadership Skills was conducted by Ayush Maheshwari from KPMG. He spoke about the traits of a good leader. He reiterated that a good leader shows the path through his own example, communicates effectively, motivates and encourages his team, keeps himself updated about the subject and is open to constructive feedback. He also shared an interesting and inspirational video. He gave examples of some great leaders who have shown exemplary leadership in the current times. He concluded the session with a short quiz.
A session on Adaptability was conducted by Medhavi Srivastava, a counsellor by profession, for the Bandra youth students. She said that adaptability is one of the key skills for academic and professional advancement. It is the skill to change oneself according to the changing circumstances and situations in one’s life, environment and ecosystem. Adaptability helps one to face challenges, embrace learning and change one’s thought processes.
Disability Day awareness Month!
I Learn- I Earn project celebrated Day 2021 with various stakeholders like students, parents and volunteers.
1.A webinar on Legal Guardianship for parents of specially abled beneficiaries was organized as an awareness session based on the Disability month. Mrs. Bhakti Walve, a Counselor for Autistic Spectrum disorders and an advisor for the Gharkul school for special children facilitated this session. She threw light on the important aspects and need for Guardianship.
2. The trainers celebrated Disability Day with the specially abled students in different centres. Specially abled students cut the cake and a motivational video was shown to the students.
3. 4 corporate employees celebrated Christmas with Vashi centre students. As a part of disability sensitization and awareness, the employees learnt Sign Language where they were taught basic alphabets and greetings of Indian Sign Language. They also interacted with students. Students sang and performed. Employees distributed Joy of giving gifts, medical kits to the students. Additionally they also distributed Christmas gifts to the students.
December 3 is observed as International Day for Persons with Disabilities to promote rights and well-being of persons with disabilities at every level of society and development. Sujaya Foundation's SMART + Project students organized for a workshop on learning Basics of Indian Sign Language for the KPMG employees/volunteers the objective of which was to promote inclusion and create awareness about Indian Sign Language on December 10. The training was conducted by the students with the help of Ms. Vidya, Sign Language interpreter and trainer. The volunteers were enthusiastic and happy to learn Indian sign language.
A Jumble Sale was conducted by Sujaya Foundation in association with the Rotary Club of Navi Mumbai at Bandra. 30 enthusiastic participants, a multitude of household items, a variety of clothes, a consumer oriented market, magnanimous donations by people to benefit the underprivileged, efficient management and practical skill building of the participants collectively made the Jumble Sale a successful one. The sale saw a collection of Rs. 23100/- which will be used by the Rotary Club of Navi Mumbai for the education of underprivileged school children from rural areas. Overall, a great learning experience for the students and a sale eagerly awaited by the local community.
