Paradigm (St. Xavier's College, Mumbai)

We present to you the winning entry for our event Acomic Bomb.

The theme was - "Scientific Discoveries and Inventions and participants had to design a character that had an inanimate object as a body part".

"Character personality quirks"

The character designed by me is a 18 year old guy named Peindre. Which is exact translation for paint in french since he was born with a paintbrush for a hand. Naturally everyone thinks that Peindre wants to be an artist but in reality Peindre has acquired another hand which is a test tube holder, because of his love for science. He work as a scientist at a well known research laboratory but having a hand as a paint brush is highly disadvantageous. Peindre is an outcast since he lives in a society where being interdisciplinary is a taboo.

The second day of Paradigm was as exciting as the first. With talks by Dr. Leelavati Narlikar, Dr. Mithun Mitra and F.C Kohli, a lot of new avenues were explored. With our events such as Acomic Bomb, Dr. Curie-us and The Primodium we tried to broaden the way people perceive science.

The days of Paradigm have gone so fast that it's difficult even for us to comprehend!
Day 1 started with the inauguration by our principal Dr. B. A. Menezes, and the flight of the quad copter marked the beginning of the exhibitions, which covered a large spread of diverse topics and demonstrations which everyone enjoyed. We began our public lecture series with talks by Dr. Abhas Mitra, Dr. Priya Kishnani and Ms. Prajna Chowta. We kick started the fest with events such as Optimus Crime, Paradigm Wants To Know, Sustainability Workshop and String The Theory.
