From Royalty to Relics: The Fascinating Story of India’s Dinosaur Princess, Aaliya Sultana Babi 21/04/2019

Have you read The Blue Dinosaur by Vaishali Shroff? It takes young readers through the amazing and often undocumented path of Indian palaeontology. Speaking with the enthusiastic Vaishali yesterday led me to the Dinosaur Princess of India, Aaliya Sultana Babi, who features in her book as well.

What a fascinating story this is!

From Royalty to Relics: The Fascinating Story of India’s Dinosaur Princess, Aaliya Sultana Babi India's very own 'Jurassic Park', the Balasinor Fossil Park, lies nestled in the tiny Raiyoli village of Gujarat's Khera district. I love my Kindle and the fact that I can carry around the four books I am currently reading in it. But I sorely miss and deeply adore the tactility of the book. The fact that one knows immediately how much of the book one has left to read; one can gaze back at and admire the cover again and again, and that one can take a look again at the blurb, the spine or just about anything on the physical book. The combined geniuses of Neil Gaiman and Douglas Adams at play here!

The Fascinating History of Lithuania’s Day of the Book Smugglers 16/03/2018

In Lithuania, March 16 is celebrated as Knygnešio diena, or the Day of the Book Smugglers, to commemorate the birthday of Jurgis Bielinis, a newspaperman who created a secret distribution network in order to smuggle banned Lithuanian books into the country. The ban was a result of the Soviet occupation of Lithuania, which brought with it militaristic efforts to enforce Russification—including a mandate to replace all Lithuanian-language works printed in the Latin alphabet with Cyrillic works.
