The Tata Institute of Social Sciences (TISS) hosted an insightful Author’s Talk with Mumbai-based lawyer and writer Mr. Berjis Desai on 9 December 2025.

Honorable Vice Chancellor Prof. Badri Narayan Tiwari set the tone for the Author's talk through his welcome address, describing TISS as a space for discourses, a "gyan pitham".

Speaking on his latest book titled "Modi’s Mission" , Mr. Desai portrayed Prime Minister Narendra Modi as a predestined Rashtra Nirmata whose life journey weaves together a spiritually charged and sometimes strange quest for purpose with an unwavering commitment to nation-building.

He traced how Mr. Modi’s early hardships, intense spiritual explorations and years of organizational work shaped a leader who combines deep inner conviction with a CEO-style “corporatization” of governance, transforming statecraft into a disciplined, mission-driven enterprise.

The talk highlighted this fusion of spiritual resolve and hard-headed administrative reform as central to understanding Modi’s evolving role in India’s contemporary political and social landscape.
