Saree बातें
The lower garment or Antriya resembled the Dhoti or Fishtail of tying saree, which was passed through legs, covered the legs loosely & then flowed into long & decorative pleats at front of the legs.
It further evolved into Bhairnivasani skirt, today known as Ghagri or Lenhenga.

Don’t splurge, just style!
👉 Age old traditional Sambalpur Silk saree gets a face lift with new, modern western jacket
👉 Wardrobe neutral, boring yellow ochre of the saree, is enhanced with the accent red coloured layer
👉 Fluid unstitched six yards combined with structured jacket & neatly pleated pallu makes the ensemble Corporate ready.
👉 The structured Hasli, (neckpiece)compliments the little floral brooch.

Drooling over this 'Hole' new dimension the saree is given by studio_medium, a design house in Delhi.
Constant fidgeting with pallu can be put to rest :) Personally, i believe that, even though the versatility of the six yards is arrested, it would be a great buy to add to ones collection.

Antriya-petticoat-inner skirt- saree silhouette
As per Wikipedia, an Atriya is the lower garment from ancient India.
It is a long white or coloured strip of fine cotton cloth, passed through the legs, worn in a way that covered both legs loosely, then long pleats flowed at the front of the legs, to provide maximum comfort and ease of movement.
Does it sound like tying a Dhoti?
👉 Yes, absolutely! Men’s dhoti, which is the oldest Indian draped garment, is the precursor of the traditional saree. Even lungi is evolved from the Antriya.
Do you know?
👉 Dhoti was worn both by the men and women until the fourteenth century?
The Sculptures of ancient goddesses and dancers wearing a dhoti wrap, or the fishtail version validates, this version of history.
👉 The Kaashtha sari (Marathi: नऊवारी साडी) and The Madisar or Koshavam (Tamil: மடிசார்) takes its inspiration from male dhoti?
👉 Antriya evolved & popularly called as a petticoat, parkar (परकर) in Marathi, ulpavadai (உள்பாவாடை) in Tamil (pavada) in other parts of South India, Malayalam: പാവാട,Telugu: పావడ, Kannada: ಪಾವುಡೆ, shaya (সায়া) in Bengali, ସାୟା in Odiya.
👉 millennial call it 'Inner Skirt'
👉 I call it ‘Saree Silhouette’
Check out the stylized Kashta Drape on tights.
