ANNUAL EXHIBITION 2017
INNER VISION
Every year, in perfect time for Christmas shopping, the Happy Home and School for the Blind stages an exhibition and sale of many of the wonderful things created by the children in the course of the year.
The quality of their workmanship is matchless. Exquisite glass mosaics of flowers and birds in dazzling colours which have been made into trays and little tables and coasters are in themselves unique works of art - and quickly becoming collectors’ items.
The show is aptly titled Inner Vision, for they have been created by feel, imagination and the most extraordinary determination to rise to the challenge of having little or no sight.
The pottery - soup bowls, salad bowls, dishes and ornaments - in glorious glazes of every shade of blue and green would grace the grandest tables.
The drying-up cloths and napkins - all hand-loomed and of the highest quality - have become legendary in Mumbai, with house-proud women snapping up dozens at a time, for themselves as well as to give away as presents.
The textured pages of old braille text books have been made into gift bags, decorated with flowers crafted from coloured paper, ingeniously wound to create petals and leaves.
The famous mosaics of the seasons that grace the walls of the school hall can be enjoyed as cards, all beautiful enough to be framed as pictures for your walls.
The remarkable talents of the children at the Happy Home must be seen to be believed.
But get there early - before it all sells out!

To provide our students with a comprehensive education and broaden their "inner vision", we regularly arrange visits to the nearby Nehru Science Centre and Planetarium, as well as other local museums and parks. This collage was produced by the students as an interpretation of the art of famous painter S.H. Raza, whose work they were able to experience.
Our students recently visited the CSVS Museum to explore a number of tactile exhibitions including an exhibition on Ancient Egypt from the British Museum where students were able to touch and feel the artefacts.
