Happy Teachers Day everyone! On this special day, we want to bring you some happy news!!!
The 10th SSC results were announced some time ago now and our students did exceedingly well :)
All the students showed a decent improvement compared to their 9th standard performance.
Mamta scored 84.4% showing an improvement of 4.4%
Tina scored 79.6% showing an improvement of 6.6%
Prabhat scored 81% showing an improvement of 9%
Bikas scored 78.2% showing an improvement of 9.2%
Priyanka scored 67% showing an improvement of 5%.
These results are also special because most of the students of this batch were part of Abhyasika since 4-5 years and they grew through Abhyasika. These improvements demonstrate that our current structure of teaching works very well for any type of student who joins Abhyasika.
We also appreciate the tireless efforts put in by the students during the last year given the fact that many of them don't have good home environments for study and it is highly commendable that they were able to concentrate on what was really important by ignoring the negative factors. We congratulate them on their success.
This wouldn't have been possible without the unwavering dedication and consistent hard work of our volunteers and coordinators who patiently taught and managed the classes. We would like to take this opportunity to thank all the people who were directly or indirectly involved in our journey last year
THANK YOU!

A mega trip where we were able to gather all the Abhyasika kids - past and present (around 120 kids) and spent a wonderful, memorable day at the Sanjay Gandhi National Park, Borivali.
Kids had lot of fun interacting with the volunteers who met them after a long gap and experiencing the love of nature through the hideous kanheri caves and the exciting safari. Overall, it was a nostalgic experience for all of us at Abhyasika revisiting one another and reuniting as a family once again.
We thank all the volunteers who assisted the kids throughout the trip and made it a big success. We thank our awesome volunteers who generously sponsored for the expenses of the trip and helping us to arrange the trip.
To more fun times ahead!

Asha Mumbai (http://mumbai.ashanet.org) has been working to provide quality education to underprivileged children from standards 5-12 living in and around Powai, Mumbai since 2006. This year, we are taking our efforts to the next level by starting Abhilasha- a pre-professional training programme for 10th passed and 12th passed students. Our first batch at Abhilasha will be focused on competitive exams for medical (NEET) and engineering (MHT CET) for meritorious and highly motivated students who might otherwise be forced to give up on their dreams due to financial constraints.
We aim to provide the students at Abhilasha with the best possible learning environment. They will be taught by highly dedicated alumni of central govt. institutes such as IITs/NITs/IISERs. Selection of students to the programme will be based on rigorous aptitude and subject tests. Appointment of full-time faculty will be conducted in the period April-May and the programme will start by June 2018.
We are reaching out to socially-minded individuals, foundations and corporations to help us raise funds to run the Abhilasha programme for around 30 students. If you are interested in helping personally, please contact the Asha Mumbai Chapter Coordinator at [email protected]. Further details of the project proposal and budget can be shared on request. We would also be very grateful if you could spread the word amongst your friends and contacts. Please share this post on relevant groups on Facebook and WhatsApp!

We are happy to bring you some awesome news..!!
Our student Pooja who cleared JEE this year got admitted into IIT Kharagpur. She'll be pursuing Msc Physics at IIT Kgp.
Pooja says, " I am very happy to have made it to IIT-KGP. I am not satisfied by the rank I obtained but I want to work harder in future. I want to thank all the volunteers of Abhyasika for providing me a good platform. In future, I will pursue research in Physics if I like the work involved. I am glad I chose to study with Abhyasika and Avanti instead of other corporate coaching centers."
Pooja undertook JEE coaching at Avanti, Mumbai even when she got offers of free coaching from coaching giants. We would like to thank the team of Avanti for constantly believing in her during the course of these 2 years.
Pooja has always been a dedicated student pushing herself to achieve more and strive for success. We congratulate her on this outstanding achievement. She made us proud and we are sure her success will inspire more of Abhyasika students to think and dream big.
Credits to Abhyasika's team of JEE teachers for being available to teach (sometimes even during exams and vacations!). Classes were running on a regular basis for nearly two years thanks to you guys!

"I chose to join Abhyasika particularly to get a connect with the outside world, which sees the world around from a completely different perspective. teaching the school going children was a time which made me forget all my worries, doing small nautankis while teaching was one of the most enjoyable time I used to have. It made me realize how much the government education system is lacking in reaching out to poor and how valuable our contribution can be in helping them with their education. i will recommend all those enthusiastic to give Abhyasika a try. It will certainly broaden the horizons of your perception of Real India "

WINTER OLYMPICS AT ABHYASIKA!!!
We need volunteers for Sports Day for Abhyasika kids on Sunday, December 11, 2016 (8.30 AM to 1.30 PM) in gymkhana hockey ground. We plan to pick up students from Phulenagar and bring them to campus by 9 AM. We can then have some group games/competitions for 3-4 hours and wrap up the event. Some of the games conducted during the last meet include running race, 3 leg-race, football, Kabaddi, Kho-kho and Cricket. You can also suggest some other sports/games that can be included in the event (anyone can teach Frisbee?). It would be desirable to have physically exhausting games where the kids sweat it out. We invite volunteers who can help with pick-up, supervision of students and drop-off after the event (It is expected that the volunteers will be staying for the entire duration of the event, unless otherwise specified) Feel free to include any of your friends who are enthusiastic about sports. Please call/SMS/whatsapp Vadiraj (9833426959) if you would like to volunteer. Please let him know latest by tomorrow afternoon (Saturday, 10th Dec). It will surely be a fun and energetic event (as with almost all the activities involving kids) and may also act as a reality check on our current fitness levels! :))

"When I look back to my memories at Abhyasika, it’s the little things that first come to mind: The little conversations after class, the way they affectionately hold your hand, the way they look up to you and their cute naughty smiles. These are some of the cherished memories I will have of Abhyasika.
I have been so moved by the student’s enthusiasm to learn. Their eagerness to learn is heart warming. It’s a real pleasure to teach such students.
I have been a coordinator at Abhyasika for 3 semesters, and it has often been tough and hectic. But I have seen the students grow, learn, and progress through their studies, and so I feel all the effort has been worth it. The hard work and dedication of everybody involved has made this possible. The people at Abhyasika deserve an applause; so many challenges and difficulties have been overcome to reach the level of effectiveness that we see today."
