Inspiration at ICAR-CIFE! 🌟

Yesterday, we hosted an incredible interactive session with our very own Mr. Yumnam Abungcha Mangang, who recently cleared the Manipur Civil Services Exam (2022). 🏆

From fisheries to public service, his journey is a testament to hard work and perseverance. It was a proud moment for our students to learn from his experience and get motivated for their own paths to success. 🚀✨

Insightful session at ICAR-CIFE Mumbai! 🐟📚

Yesterday, we had the privilege of hosting Dr. V. V. Binoy from NIAS, IISc Campus, for a fascinating guest lecture on "Understanding 'Tiger of the River': Ethological Insights for Supporting Conservation of the Deccan Mahseer."

Dr. Binoy shared deep insights into the behavioral patterns (ethology) of the iconic Deccan Mahseer and how understanding their "personality" and cognitive traits is vital for effective conservation.

A big thank you to Dr. Debajit Sarma and the Department of Aquaculture for coordinating this enlightening event for our students and faculty.

Students of the College of Fisheries Science, Veraval visited ICAR-Central Institute of Fisheries Education as part of an educational tour aimed at enhancing practical knowledge and exposure to advanced fisheries education, research, and training facilities.

The visit provided students with valuable insights into modern fisheries science, aquaculture technologies, fish processing, biotechnology, resource management, and ongoing research activities at one of India’s premier fisheries institutes.

Such educational tours help bridge the gap between classroom learning and real-world applications while motivating students toward innovation, research, and professional growth in the fisheries sector.

Mapping the Mytella strigata invasion! 🐚🧬 Our new research reveals 16 unique haplotypes of this invasive mussel across India’s coasts. Findings suggest multiple introduction events, with Ennore Creek and Vembanad Lake showing the highest genetic diversity. A crucial step for managing marine bio-invasions! 🌊
