Masks were created by our students for a fun filled reading activity. They got into character by putting their masks on and changing their voices for the different roles in the story. It allowed students to enjoy themselves as well as learn about the importance of voice modulation and tone.

"I began my journey as a 6 year old, forced to go for Ms.Meher Dubash's Elocution Class by my late mother, as she received a complaint from school saying 'Nazneen learns her poems, but why does she whisper them in my ear?'
That's where it all began.
I was very diffident, with zero expression on my face, but slowly and steadily Ms. Meher got me out of my shell.
It's been a wonderful journey growing up with Ms.Meher and then as I progressed into my senior grades, being tutored by Mr.Nosherwan Jehangir (fondly called Nosh) as well.
The transformation from learning to teaching came by fluke in 1991. I had just started my veterinary studies after HSC boards, when my college (students) decided to go on a six month strike.
It was during this time that Mrs Meher Jehangir opened up a Sunday morning batch and got me to start assisting in teaching.
And yes, I taught every Sunday for 18 years.
Since then there's been no looking back. From a Saturday morning and afternoon batch to a Sunday morning batch, the school gradually grew from strength to strength, with classes at different centres each day of the week.
Today as I reminisce over my 43 years of association with JSSD (including 30 years of teaching) I'd say my fondest memories are of the days when my three colleagues and I used to attend class together for senior grades all the way up to our ATCL diploma, under both Mrs, Meher and Mr.Nosh, and we not only learnt invaluable lessons from them but had crazy fun during rehearsals.

Either before or after our class, I would be training the juniors for their TCL exams as well.
I am surprised my parents didn't disown me back then as I think I had a temporary shift of address for those few months.
From a small class to Jehangir's classes to Jehangir's School of Speech and Drama, the school has grown phenomenally over the last several decades and I am proud to have been a part of it almost all through the journey.
Lastly, little did I think that my decoration on the pudding I made at our teachers potluck a few years ago would eventually become the logo for our school for years to come.
