A craft table is coming up soon ...
A free-flowing, engaging , head Scratching, unwinding kind of gathering Meeraki craft table ...
CAFE MOYA, it is ๐Ÿ˜Š
Food for thought... yes, a table and no food ??!!

PS: Please note that crafting here is either upcycling and recycling or learning a skill .

Memory from one of the many saraswati pujo "saaj sojja " ..
This will be the twentieth year of late night addas along with cutting snipping and pasting.
Devi saraswati s space has to be adorned with handcrafted , handmade paper craft .

It is a childhood memory and tradition .
I feel blessed to be able to indulge in it to date .

Tomorrow night, we get together to create a beautiful space for Vasant Panchami again .

It is that time of the year ..
When festivities and fun are around the corner and along with that celebration of the arts and crafts , textiles .
Engaging in song dance theatre and art .
The part of the festivals I love most .

The cultural programme, costumes , stage craft, and props .
Ideation, experimentation , conception, and construction are exciting .

Here is a sneak peak in some of the process .

1. Ganapati adorns crochet flowers and a fabric garland ๐Ÿ’™
2. Mehmud , the puppet character, wears clothes in handloom fabric , perched on the rocking chair on a woven throw .
3. Rugs , throws, and cushion covers , in ikat and indigo block prints in diverse textures
4. Hancrafted puppet Shoi dressed in the colour code ๐Ÿ˜Š
5&6. Handpainted and handstiched curtain buntings by Moi , the motif matching the cushion .
7. Textures and aroma of freshwater roasted spices
8. The Panipuri and the Pao
9. The indigo sarees ๐Ÿ’•
10. The whole space draped in blue in all hues , textures, and crafts .

With the intention of celebrating all things I love and Cherish, which, in turn, brings me much joy and happiness and sharing that space with more people over shared meaningful conversations and a meal from my kitchen was born -Hi&Mytea๐ŸŒผ

Encouraged by dear friends ๐Ÿค—

As the visual shows, it is a celebration of individuals with diverse experiences and interests, of crafts and craftsmen , the stories of travel , of weaves and textiles , of food and recepies.
A free flowing space, though .
Not Debates, or opiniated arguments.
A space to LISTEN and not judge.
A mentioned colour code but no enforcement.
A meal with hints of regions and places but again a tweaked version from personal memory and experiments.
A gathering of people who are not necessarily familiar or similar ๐Ÿ˜Š.

BUT .. there is an invisible thin string that binds them, and I perceive that, and thus, the gathering has a certain rhythm one we all felt ๐Ÿ’—

THE MAKING OF THE GOOD VIBES DESTINATION- DEORALI ๐Ÿต
A SHRINE TO THE FOREST AND A BEAUTIFUL VIEWING POINT DOWN INTO THE VALLEY ....

AND EVENTUALY THE SUGGESTED NAME OF THE VILLAGE - " THE GOOD VIBES DESTINATION "
THE SPIEAL DESIGN A SYMBOL OF A COHESIVE COMMUNITY COMING TOGETHER โค๏ธ

The confidence and skill, and knowledge to make the change is empowerment.

In the space of community development, cohesion, and capacity building, my belief in creativity as a tool towards the desired end is humongous.

I have been blessed to be a part of meaningful environmental initiatives .

The images here show our efforts at a village in South sikkim - chalamthang towards making a tourist spot .
The idea was to curate the existing natural beauty present within the village into organised tourist attractions.

Chalamthang was to be a clean organic village and eco tourism destination .
While we waited for funds to come through or not .
An enthusiastic group of young volunteers, under my guidance, started working on ideas such as these .
We worked at clearing and cleaning up the space in the forest .
Creating the shrine like stone structure, handpainting the symbol on the rocks .
Putting up the hand painted but weather resistant sinage made of wood
( more stories on those follow)

The outcome was so heartening and appreciated that we were all eager to add nice touches to other parts of the village

Many more of our creative endeavours and the stories follow .

All towards reverence and preservation of our environment .

As custodians for the next generation, we have a huge responsibility.

If each one of us walks the talk every day, in our own small way , the collective impact WILL BE TANGIBLE.

I'm super excited to be among more than a hundred children , sharing the ancient form of theatre.
Puppetry - simplified and broken down to make it engaging and meaningful .
Of course, there was Stories of Puppetry.
A small song and movement presentation of puppet theatre .

A promise of much fun and learning , I did keep.

The resounding applause and warmest goodbye was overwhelming.

PS: EXECUTING TWO WORKSHOP'S ON THE SAME DAY .
THAT WAS A CHALLENGE. BUT HOW WONDERFULLY IT WENT THROUGH.

My โค๏ธ heart felt thank to the entire team of Navnirmity specially their young group of volunteers.

,of the wisdom of the tribal communities.
While doing art , learning the nuances of colours and techniques.
Exploring and experimenting as we go along.

Truest learning through meaningful engagements.

As a resource person and a creative educator,
I put my heart and mind into every bit of planning and ex*****on.

Children fill my soul โค๏ธ
