At Kahaanipur, we engage with the most mundane everyday ideas, to weave extraordinary narratives for life; we breakdown the most complex notions into simplistic reality. Our goal is to facilitate communication – within the society; for individuals, children, adults and the marginalised and storytelling is our instrument.

WORLD STORYTELLING DAY

"Last week, I had the wonderful opportunity to spend some truly special moments with some extraordinary children. These children joined from all over small villages and towns of Maharashtra online. They have lost either one or both parents during the Covid pandemic. My task was simple—to share a story with them and fill those moments with awareness, knowledge, and engaging conversations. As I continue on this journey, storytelling has now become a vital step in my practice of therapeutic storytelling.
When dreams are not grand but are rooted in small, simple, and humble truths of life, they have their own unique way of becoming truly significant. It has always been my dream to narrate a story that I have written. The children were so attentive and full of appreciation for the story I had written. I could see that their deep immersion in the story will inspire them to always believe in the creative process.
I am deeply grateful to United Way Mumbai and facilitator Manali Bhavsar for making this beautiful experience possible."

Storyteller Samvedna in Kahaanipur is presenting a short folktale from the hills of Assam. We find that each story meant for a child, always has some relevance to the grown-up mind as well. And it is because grown-ups are so busy growing up, so busy becoming big that they lose out on the wisdom present in the smaller details. That is why they should reach out to children. And if not, then they should hear and read the stories for children.
