Heartiest congratulations to VITians Parth Gupta and Utkarsh Karmungikar for winning the Best Team prize in the Inter-collegiate Debate Competition conducted by Hindustan Times at the Jio World Convention Centre on 22 January 2025!! 🎊🎉🏆

This duo emerged as winners after they outdid the tough competition which saw participation from 24 of Mumbai's best educational institutes. This duo will proceed to the national finals to be held in Delhi! Proud moment for the Literary Student Council.

Srinivasa Ramanujan was one of the world’s greatest mathematicians. In India, National Mathematics Day is observed annually on 22 December to mark his pioneering contributions. Despite not receiving any formal training in pure maths, Ramanujan made impactful contribution to the discipline in his short life (32 years). His areas of work include infinite series, continued fractions, number theory and mathematical analysis. He is the first Indian to be elected a Fellow of the Trinity College. He is said to have discovered his own theorems and independently compiled 3,900 results.

Happy World Meditation Day 🧘🏻‍♂️🧘

The United Nations General Assembly proclaimed 21 December as World Meditation Day. The Day serves to raise awareness about the benefits of meditation and emphasizes on the right of everyone to the enjoyment of the highest attainable standard of physical and mental health.

We are very proud to share that our GDG Lead Ms. Maitri Dalvi (Third Year B.Tech. Electronics and Computer Science) and her team has secured the first prize at the Generative AI Hackathon organized by Aditya Birla Group and the office of Ms. Ananya Birla during Techfest 2024 at IIT Bombay. The prize money is ₹1,50,000 and her topic was “Legal AI: An AI-Powered Legal Assistant for the Indian Judiciary System”. Over 400 students from top institutions across the country competed in this prestigious event.

The Flutter Roadshow India, for which VIT was the venue partner, saw over 300 participants, with approximately 40% coming from outside Maharashtra, representing cities such as Surat, Vadodara, Chennai, Bangalore, and Delhi. The event was a resounding success, featuring over 20 speakers and providing free access to 50 of our students.

This initiative is also playing a pivotal role in fostering a long-term relationship with the Flutter India community, with a formal MOU set to be signed soon.

VIT Team competing from Bangalore has won the grand Finale of Smart India Hackathon 2024 and bagged the prize money of Rs. 1,00,000!! The team mentor is Prof. Nisy Mathew.
