We regret to inform you that Mr. Sen Kapadia, Founding Director of KRVIA, passed away today.
Sen brought with him a rare combination of academic vision and professional depth, shaping KRVIA as a space where design inquiry, critical thinking, and ethical engagement could meaningfully coexist. He established not merely an academic framework, but a culture of dialogue, reflection, and intellectual generosity.
KRVIA shall remain deeply indebted to Sen Kapadia for shaping the spirit of the institution, one that continues to foster inquiry, responsibility, and a commitment to architecture as a critical and humane practice.
His legacy will endure in the values he instilled, the questions he provoked, and the generations of students and educators he inspired.

KRVIA Certificate Program - SALT FUTURES 2026
An 8-Day Advanced Climate Design Workshop at KRVIA
Hosted at KRVIA, Mumbai, and led by bio-material researcher and architect Mangesh M. Kurund, the program brings together design, ecology, and material experimentation.
Participants will engage in hands-on exploration of salt as a dynamic environmental agent—investigating crystallization, brine circulation, and solar-driven processes to generate architectural systems. The workshop moves beyond conventional design, asking: what if architecture could grow, dissolve, and regenerate with climate?
Across the 8-day timeline, the cohort will work through computational design, material prototyping, and fabrication, culminating in a collaborative salt pavilion installation formed through real-time environmental interaction.
Open to students and practitioners across architecture, design, ecology, and material sciences. Applications now open. Last date: 30 April. Participation is selection-based.
Dates: 2–10 May 2026
Location: KRVIA, Mumbai
Format: 8-day intensive | Limited to 20 participants
Applicants must submit:
• Letter of Intent (max 300 words)
• Short Bio
• Portfolio or prior work (optional but encouraged)
